Just went in to buy some Lifestraw water purifiers since they were on sale for a great price. Obviously I went in mask-free... I found what I needed, and at that moment I had my first confrontation. The guy was polite in asking me to wear a mask, and I politely responded that I was almost done. I grabbed my items, walked to the counter, and as I was entering the line, I was approached by a manager. He also told me I needed a mask to shop. I told him I was done shopping, and I just needed to pay and I would be on my way. He said it was policy and that he would get me a mask, to which I said no thanks. I placed my items on the counter and the first clerk ignored me. A second clerk walked over to tell me I needed a mask. I told her that I was just gonna swipe my credit card and then i'd be on my way. At this point, there are now 3 employees outside the counter around me, and 5 or so behind the counter all staring and insisting I wear a mask. The manager is now holding the box of masks with his arms outstretched trying to not get too close to my extremely dangerous person. I said again that I only needed to check out and would be on my way. They refused to scan my items and let me pay. I told them it was communist bullshit and that they were wasting more time by arguing with me than just letting me be on my way. Their response was that the only way I could pay was to wear it, and then they said that I could do curbside if I wanted. I told them this was getting way out of hand, not just here, but everywhere. I said thanks, but i'll be purchasing them elsewhere. At no point were they rude to me, but honestly, their smug "holier than thou" attitude was worse. I left, walked into Bass Pro where they greeted my maskless face with a coupon instead of liberal dumbfuckery. It was worth spending double to shop like I am still in the U S of A. Don't let these assclowns control you anymore!

I still have my REI membership from the 1980s when its catalogue was newsprint and it actually served outdoorsmen. Who had to actually exert ourselves to get to the back country rather than driving in to a paved parking lot and groomed trails to spend a few hours lugging tens of thousands of dollars of equipment and gourmet food for another Weekend Selfie Op.

REI is nothing but another hipster elitist consumerism palace now. Their service has sucked for a long time, and their employees have been insufferable back at least to the 1990s at every store I've entered. I stopped even bothering with them in 2008 when they were arrogant to an elder friend who asked whether there was an elevator he could use to get to the second floor since he was just a week out of hip replacement surgery [work related]. He was shopping for workout shoes for his PT. He's one of those hard working, frugal living, incredibly active "millionaires next door" who you'd never imagine was one...and he has taken a lot of money to other retailers since that experience. I figure REI must have some invisible investors keeping them afloat, and that they are a money laundry or something, because as an outdoors business they blow.

That "holier than thou" attitude that Luvs refers to IS the religion of the Professional Victims. They know that accusing others of being racists (while supporting keeping blacks on the welfare plantation and even voting for them/only allowing black conservatives 3/5ths of a vote via Dominion algorithm) is running out of steam. They know that their pet victims are increasingly waking up to how they've been used and farmed.

So they need another kind of victimhood to flog.

Which is ironic--that they're choosing the KEEP OTHERS SAFE YOU NAZI route when they are the ones throwing people with sensory disabilities under the bus left and right. I am 100% deaf in one ear and 75% deaf in the other, so even with hearing prosthetics I need to read lips to communicate. Covidians have been everything from snide and ridiculing to outright harassing of me, and I've found it harder and harder to risk these encounters here in REI and Inslee Land. I've never experienced such systematic and wide-ranging humiliation. It is very hard to bear up under, a kind of psychological torture that isn't as bad...as seeing how many people have bowed down to it. Masses and masses of Stasi Karens and soychuggers.

And to think that unions like AFSCME are remaking themselves to be the "health" "care" "worker" unions...and have done a 180 from all their former talk about CARING ABOUT PEOPLE. What a bunch of liars.

(AFSCME has used government employees as a springboard to Pharma. At least here in Pugetopolis the plan was that they would use Kaiser Permanente/GHC as the juncture between the two big moneymaking plans--from skimming tax dollars for Big Nanny government, to skimming tax dollars for Big Motherf***er Pharma/forced biological servitude. Since KP took over GHC, and since Obamacare was passed, public sector employees lost nearly all their health care options; KP is effectively the only one left, by design. So then KP and AFSCME apparently did a handshake...and now AFSCME is nothing but Covidian propaganda.)

The Professional Victims are such despicable people, and their iron clad control of MSM (propaganda) and the voting machines means I and my family are praying we are shown a way to get out of here to a place where ADA and freedom still mean something. Pugetopolis is completely owned by Chyna.

Not only overpriced, but they don't have half the real outdoors shit you need (try looking for Hoppes or any other gun cleaning fluid - I dare you).

You're 100x better off at a farm supply store, truth be told.

1776Philly 4 points ago +4 / -0

If you look it up, you will see that REI was around since the 1930s as a cooperative that imported mountaineering equipment for people who did a lot of climbing and trekking in the Cascades and Rockies. That stuff was hard to come by when I was a junior outdoors geek in the 1970s and 1980s (I got my high country, back country and cross country ski gear out east at Paul Wick's shop in SE Pennsylvania).

Jim Whittaker headed the company for many years iirc. He was also a close friend of Robert F. Kennedy--JFK's brother undoubtedly hit for going up against organized crime--and Jim was also the head of Bobby's Washington state campaign (Presidential run, 1968). That's all a bit before my time, but elder mountaineers and hunters still talk about it outside Pugetopolis.

Then at some point REI's board/investors decided to go the "family outdoor adventure" route, and as I said above, by the '90s they were just crap. It was no longer a cooperative, just another retailer spending way too much money on real estate and advertising.

Chick FIL A is pulling this shit too now. You cant even go through the drive through without a mask

10
ca18det 10 points ago +10 / -0 (edited)

I can't believe there are people who still eat at Chick FIL A after the CEO debased himself, shining a black man's shoes on national television. There are only two ways to interpret this action:

  1. He is a white supremacist and believes he needs to show contrition to his inferior
  2. He is a black supremacist and believes he needs to show submission to his superior

There is no way to interpret this action being everyone as humans on equal footing.

I got kicked out of a grocery store because I wouldn't wear a mask. Walked around the entire store, got all of my items, and made it to the checkout. It was only at the checkout that I was refused service if I didn't put a mask on. I refused, let my stuff there and walked out. I went to another grocer down the road and got all of my stuff without a mask and without questions.

Fuck the commies.

I was told at Walmart I couldn’t enter without a mask. Put it on, walked through the door, then took it off when I rounded the corner. Nobody bothered me again.

10
whiskey_shitz 10 points ago +10 / -0

Good for you! Dont get belligerent just be matter of fact that you wont wear a mask and if all else fails leave and never go back. Bonus if you email their customer service and let them know they lost a customer....also tell everyone you know.

The only place I was denied for not wearing a mask was menards. Such a shame, I liked menards but I'll never go there again.

Home depot has never bothered me about a mask.

Everyonelovesblacks 9 points ago +9 / -0

The stress you caused that manager likely took a year off his worthless, pathetic life. I'm certain that once you left, and their heart palpitations subsided, that the staff collectively sighed in smug satisfaction at your departure and immediately logged on to reddit, facebook, and transexualpeopleblog.com to share their vindication with their eunuch friends.

I've stepped foot in to REI a grand total of two times, and each time i had to practically pull out a machete to slice my way through the sanctimony and pomposity of fembois who would suck a dick to get a good deal on some overpriced northface garbage gear just to find a carabiner so I could rappel into a cave and get away from the faggot world.

Bass Pro shop is EXTREMELY Anti-2A. They've castrated Cabela's almost completely.

So no thanks, I'll just shop at neither of those big box stores.

4
1776Philly 4 points ago +4 / -0

The globalist takeover of Cabela's was to achieve attacks on RKBA/2A that couldn't be done through manipulation of votes, the legislature, and the judiciary.

Look up Paul Singer

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Singer_(businessman)

In September 2017, Bass Pro Shops paid 5.5 billion to acquire Cabela's.[19] The deal was financed via preferred equity financing from Goldman Sachs and Pamplona. Goldman Sachs contributed $1.8 billion towards financing and Pamplona contributed the remainder for a total commitment of $2.4 billion.[19] In 2019, Bass Pro Shops sold eleven of the Cabela's stores to Sansome Pacific[20] in a sale-leaseback scheme.[21][22] The acquisition of Cabela's resulted in 2,000 jobs lost in Sidney, Nebraska, Cabela's headquarter at the time of the acquisition.[23][24] Sidney had a population of less than 7,000 in 2017, when the 2,000 jobs were lost. As part of Cabela's acquisition, Bass Pro Shops sold Cabela's World's Foremost Bank brand to Synovus and Capital One, a transfer of over $1 billion in assets.[25][26]

REI cucked out hardcore this year. I feel like if people were to ask my about my membership now I'd say that I'm embarrassed to have purchased anything from a retailer whose paid employees (since they seem to forget it is CO-OP) are so unhinged from reality and hateful towards other people.

Just curious - were the masks in the box of masks individually wrapped?

I'm just picturing some sick slob rifling through the box of masks with snot-covered COVID fingers, picking out one while infecting many others.

3
Luvs_2_Bop [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

nope, just wedged in there together

4
JerryNadlerBeltFund 4 points ago +4 / -0

That's been my experience, too. Disgusting. The Total Wine stores around me keep hand sanitizer and a box of unprotected masks at the entrance, along with a "MASKS REQUIRED" sign. I just walk past and shop. Recently, my checkout clerk commented how it was nice to see a human face for a change. Her counterpart at the next checkout chimed in with how she agreed, and we discussed how this is bullshit. They were based, but forced to mask up because of, well you know, the deadly pandemic and all.

3
TwoPlusTwoEqualsFour 3 points ago +3 / -0

Local hardware store here was based but enough people bitched about the staff not wearing masks the owner caved. Other day me and wife walk in and the clerk said "wow! Normal people!" gave me a chuckle.

These people think they are smart. They think they are representing a great truth. The reality? They chose a path of fake righteousness. They think certain messages contain the quality of conscientiousness but it’s just the message that is easy to swallow for them. This is their good choice. Your choice is the bad one. They think you represent stupidity and stubbornness. Your choice is more difficult and requires more careful attention because of the resistance from morons like them. They lack wisdom to see the difference.

2
Berserker88 2 points ago +2 / -0

2
1776Philly 2 points ago +2 / -0

How is Sportsman's these days?

At this moment I am wearing a pair of flannel cabin pants (was out earlier getting soaked on field) that I bought from them in 2007 when they were Warehouse Sports. Those things have worn like iron. Amazing.

Sportsman's/Warehouse Sportsused to be owned by a based cooperative of farmers in Alberta, but since Alberta got taken over by the commie NDP, I have no idea what's up there.

The closest Sportsman's to me is in Puyallup, WA, which is a hella long haul. There was a store in Lacey, WA (between Olympia and JBLM). It closed some years ago.

2
Berserker88 2 points ago +2 / -0

They do have double the size easily of gun space and 3x as much ammo space as Gander did. And if into Archery they now carry Xpedition among other good names opposed to PSE/Diamond/ Bear only at GM and have every arrow brand you could imagine. So hopefully they will be better and stick around. I try to buy from LGS but as far next big retailer it is 40min to BP and 1 hour to a cabela's north or south.

2
Berserker88 2 points ago +2 / -0

They just opened a location here in the old Gander Mt store. They were packed wall to wall with guns and ammo upon opening last month....all wiped out. So as a new to town establishment, I can not say what I think about then yet. I'm in PA.

A) There are better options than lifestraw - even though I have a bunch of them. I bought them before i really thought about the fact that to use them - you need to crouch down and put your face near (likely) un-sanitary water you plan to drink after pulling it through the straw. Look into sweetwater, or sawyers, or MSR hand pumped systems. Sawyer probably being the best overall in regard to the size of the particulate they'll stop form getting through the filtering. I STILL have lifestraws that I haven't used yet? but they're no longer the only water purification stuff I have. Hope these suggestions help.

B) rei has been trash for awhile now - please stop giving them your money. They hate us and everything we stand for. they're the sporting goods version of starbucks. they look down their noses at us from their $4000 kayaks that they just took down from their imported range rovers.

1

Gotcha - yeah - I've gone in now and again - mostly to cut through to another level of the mall (when they're OPEN! heh) but yeah - they're overpriced, rude, generally un-knowlegable in any depth about any topic unless you're in their bike shop (that one guy was a shining star for us on a repair - one of Us(tm) deep behind enemy lines!)

True_Grits 3 points ago +3 / -0

My wife and I tend to have long memories on stores that piss us off politically. I think we stopped shopping at REI back in 2013 or so when they made some anti-2A donations/remarks, etc... Think that was around same time as Target started allowing men into the women’s changing rooms and restrooms, haven’t set foot in there in years either. Unfortunately, it gets tougher all the time to avoid businesses that are openly supporting the leftists and their ideology.

If there were, Inslee's Snitch Army would pile on them and threaten them. Remember what happened with his snitch database? We literally had Karens (many of them proudly signing themselves as TEACHERS) driving around all day looking for people to harass.

this is going to be unpopular, sorry guys lol But some places dont really have a choice when it comes to masks, chains mostly. like my gym is on top of it because they already got warnings and shut down. The employees arent rude, and they dont really get a say. The manager said if it was a private gym, he wouldnt care, but its not. Loved the video of the Buffalo gym owner ripping up his ticket, thats awesome.

I understand that. I wasn’t being overly rude at anyone, just blunt. In FL, DeSantis opened us up, so most places know they can’t enforce local government mandates. I’m saying REI has made a choice as a company & we should vote with our wallets.

The other day I walked into our chain grocery store and honestly forgot a mask going in. I just went about my business when I realized why some people were staring, but nobody said anything to me about putting a mask on. 😂

Honestly, I don't have as much of a problem with stores having mask policies because in theory I can take my business elsewhere. Government orders to wear masks are a whole different issue to me though.

With all due respect, you, ma'am, are a cuck. You are saying that stores are allowed to take liberties with your liberty, and it's OK so long as it isn't MUH GOVMINT. And you'll reward them with your business.

Didn't you learn anything from this election? MUH GOVMINT is OWNED by the private sector. They take away your freedoms when they have driven out all but themselves--oh but that's OK because they aren't wearing their GOVMINT false-face.

You are clearly not paying attention. If they can force masks on you today they can disarm you today (and some do, and I choose not to shop there).

So what happens when everything goes online/on your home Big Brother TV, and all your money is digital, and they decide that they won't process any transactions they don't agree with?

Oh, that's OK coz it's not MUH GOVMINT.

You are not paying attention. You seem to be completely ignorant of how public policy gets made by these corporations--just as how Goldman Sachs and Paul Singer have figured out how to get between people and 2A/RKBA by destroying Cabela's gun sales.

Fuck that just bought a shitload of Mike Lindel products, like I said I don't have to go to REI never set foot in their shitty store and I never will so they can have whatever policies on masks or guns or shirts and shoes or whatever the fuck they want to do.

At the first request by the manager, I would've fake coughed all over the items, set them on the floor and walked out, no words spoken.

i asked if they wanted me to walk back and place the items on the shelf after...they declined
