I live in commie NYC and it has become a nightmare this past year - between shutdowns and mask mandates and busboy lefties harassing my family on the street.
Can anyone recommend a town/state to move to that is:
- staunchly red
- very few people wearing masks
- things are open
- lots of young families with toddlers/kids
- culture/nightlife (thai food, museums etc)
- up and coming economy (we are in real estate)
I realize this might be alot to ask, I just have to know if it is this miserable everywhere or is there hope of finding a better place to raise my kids.
Tennessee! You have access to 4 midsized to major cities in Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Memphis. Very Red, No State Income Tax, and Beautiful Scenery.
My wife and I are in the same boat. We live in Washington state but we can't afford to get out.
Try the coast. Hard working Washingtonians are quietly defying shit. These areas will soon see a resurgence
My fear is if we don't get out soon everyone is going to realize NY is not going to come back and we will go the way of Detroit- tanking all of our investments.
I believe that South Dakota has never gone into a shutdown. Might try starting there
No real shutdown but masks are required in many businesses. Not much crime here. BLM and that sort know better than to come here also. Warning though,, if you are sitting on the side of the road in your vehicle, random strangers WILL stop and ask if you need assistance.
Yeah, I don't think you're going to find anywhere that doesn't do masks. Too many people bought into that shit.
Doesn't it snow in SD 8 months out of the year? 😆
Usually 7, sometimes 8. Keeps the riff raff out though.
Texas (Just stay away from Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, and El Paso)
Pinal County, AZ or East Valley (Phoenix). It checks all the boxes (I believe Pinal is fully open, whereas East Valley is still under Maricopa County restrictions), and the economy is booming in AZ. The only caveat, of course, is that Commiefornians are invading AZ, but we’re still a red state (fuck FOX News), and we need a continued influx of red refugees from blue states to keep us red.
Phoenix BUT - you may want to wait and see how things go after Mark Kelly gets in the office. Other than that, everything on your list matches for here. I don’t wear a mask anywhere I go, although there is a mandate I still don’t use it in most places don’t ask you to if they do I tell them no thank you. There’s lots of families here real estate booming, and there isA night life and stuff like that. It’s super fucking hot in the summer though
In addition to the things listed above, are you looking for a 3k sf, 4b, 3b, 3car attached garage on 5ac (pressurized and gravity feed irrigation) private well (on your land) right in the middle of wine and orchard region within 35min of major city, corporations and universities?
Spez: Close to lake and rivers too.
Trying to get back to SC myself.
West Central Florida, not Hillsborough county, but the counties north of there are great.
And close enough to Tampa to get more culture.
Looking for big city amenities in deep red country is tough. SD and MT both have small cities that fit your needs in terms of young families etc, and strong real estate markets in both states.
The area around Sioux falls SD is growing, and the area around Helena/Bozeman is growing. They are beginning to fight californication in Bozeman now, and that includes some real estate agents in fact. SD has no taxes--no income tax, inheritance tax and I believe no property tax, but reasonable sales taxes.
However, the culture/nightlife is lacking.
And also not important right now ;-). I say that as a born and raised Bostonian who has been stuck in southern AZ for decades, enroute to MT in a few weeks. Would I like to live somewhere with a ton of museums and amazing stuff to do again? Hell yeah. Am I willing to deal with leftists to do it? FUCK no.
Well it depends on what you call "middle" here lol. For instance, I did see a few oriental restaurants in Helena Montana this past summer. And there are museums in the area. Don't know about nightclub type things because hubby and I are older, and neither of us drinks. But the steakhouses and taverns were nice.
Sioux Falls SD is bigger than Helena MT.
But when looking for places, this is how we did it:
First, figure out states and cities you may be interested in. Then, hit google maps, and view them in map and satellite to see what they look like. Use social media and google maps to look up businesses, schools etc in the area.
Then deep dig on craigslist and the local job boards and such to check out housing prices, jobs, and other useful things. Go on Nextdoor in that area to see what the Karens are bitching about and get a general vibe. Same with local facebook groups for that area. Find the local talk radio stations on iheart and listen to local grievances, watch their local news on the internet.
Last step for us is generally to take a vacation (working in our case) in the target area for at least 2 weeks to a month. Rent something like what you would be living in, preferably at the worst time of the year so you see the worst of it lol. We went in summer for 2 months to the place we are moving to, but both of us have lived in winter locations of similar type so we know winter.
Hit the ground during this trip, meet people, check out everything. Network and lay groundwork so if you do move, you have contacts right away.
Thank you, this is well thought out advice. I'll start digging.
I am a veteran at moving, this will be my 23rd or 24th move lol. At least now we have the internet. Back in the old days, you found shit out by sending away for local newspapers and local tourism information.
You can also check out things like this: https://amac.us/states-freest-map-shows-americans-go-crave-liberty/
That's a freedom map. Checking out things like "states/cities with best schools", "best states for gun owners" or other descriptors can help too but most "10 best/10 worst" sites can be highly biased.
Oh, and don't forget to check out the sales fliers online for local grocery stores and the local gas prices, internet prices/options etc.
ETA: not sure where to find an updated freedom map, I have the link somewhere. I will edit and add when I find it.
HAH! Found a better freedom map: https://www.freedominthe50states.org/
I agree, I don't need wild dance clubs or the Museum of Natural History...its just that I'm from NYC so I have two extremes that I'm exposed to often - big city life with endless options...or upstate NY. Which is gorgeous but the cultural options are limited to the local diner and hiking trails. I was hoping to find something more in the middle.
So, I moved to italy back in may. I'm lucky enough to have been born here and already had property here. I was also living in NYC. I've been struggling to figure out where I want to move to as well. Texas is the only state that crosses my mind because of the patriotic culture that exists there. And because if a secession happens if all this goes south, texas would be the most likely state to successfully secede.
What is Italy like? Is it all sheeple or are they aware of what's going on?
the vast majority are sheeple. the government here is corrupt and socialist/communistic so their version of MSM is also feeding them lies about trump and shit. the globalists are hard at work.
Missouri
I’m also in NYC, and in real estate. Not sure what to do honestly. I’m considering Florida eventually but if they can rig elections going forward, with no stopping them, will it matter where we go?
I'm in TX. Have not worn a mask since day one. Nobody has said anything to me. Not even police. They do not enforce it. I don't even think I have seen police wearing it to be honest. Wear it if you want...meh. Who cares.
People are unwilling to discuss demographic warfare, even here.
I love your optimism but Texas is currently turning into the next “Silicon Valley” thus turning it blue in the next 5-10 years if not sooner. It’s also where all the lefty garbage from California is flocking towards.
Far away from me you Commie Jew Dork Shitty refugee lunatic.
