My father also was a poll watcher in a majority Democratic and white precinct. There was all kinds of mischief there--in the primaries they would not even issue Republican ballots. It was the Democrat machine at work, and it was horrible. That was the 1960's.
You don't need a pile of ammo. Ever read the essay about "What Good Can A handgun Do Against An Army? Back in the day the training told us a pistol was to get a shotgun, etc. Hell, Afghanistan for 20 years....farmers against the Biggest Baddest Army on Earth, and we won and won and won until we left
So, a pile of ammo is not neccessary...all you need is enough to get a particular job done.
This is why I have recently took up long range shooting and got a proper bolt gun and optic. I want to make it so my enemy wont be safe even a thousand yards away.
If you think about it, a modern pistol, even a Hi-Point, is more effective in just about every way than a black powder musket or even rifle. Speed, accuracy, range, often even energy delivered to the target.
A modern rifle is of course even better, but a mere pistol is nothing to sneeze at compared to what people were fighting wars with 120 years ago.
When I was putting serious miles on my bike, I always had a stashed BP pistol (primitive firearm required little or no licensing across the country at-the-time) inside my rear fender. Vacuum-sealed and ready to go.
Actually, it was more reliable than a stock Hi-stovepipe-Point ...hehehe.
What an amazing time to have CoE + FFL3 (CA requirements to have ammo shipped to your home). Oh well, I'm also in the process of getting an M1 Garand from the CMP.
Check out the cmmg 22 conversion for ar. My 2 buddies I train with every week got them too and have awesome training sessions for cheap bc we all have like 100k 22lr combined. Totally worth it.
