I actually think this is acceptable in some cases where an older teacher might have legitimate concerns but it's not necessary for most teachers.

Concerns of being infected and being in an age or health category where their course of illness could be severe and possibly result in death. There's very old teachers around.

Are they 80 year old teachers? Otherwise, their risk is so tiny as to be non existent, just like most of the world. According to the Brit NHS, no one has died only of covid. All deaths have been from Co-morbidities.

If they're concerned they can look for other jobs and let people who can do the job step in

Then her old ass can take a leave of absence or a sabbatical and come back when she wants to put the education of her students before her fear of seasonal respiratory illnesses
