It stems from the song, Centipede, by Knife Party. The song was prominently used in a series of meme videos (Can't Stump The Trump) that were very popular on the subreddit during the 2016 election and primary.
The song has "lyrics" outlining qualities of a centipede, including having curved, hollow fangs that inject paralyzing venom; being nimble navigators, and predators. This was applied to Trump as a candidate and stuck with supporters online

There’s a nature documentary that refers to a centipede as a nimble navigator. People referred to others on here as nimble navigators of the internet because the speed at which news is posted here
