The President ordered a report due by the 18th. The intel community does not have the authority to delay this report. An order was given to create this report and it will be done. There is no way in hell anyone working on it will post pone it.
With that being said, the CLASSIFIED report will be turned into a few select individuals. This is what is referred to as "need to know." For instance, you can have a Top Secret clearance, but if the information does not pertain to anything you are read into, you do not have the "need to know" and can not look at the intel. This intel has to first be processed and declassified before it can just be released to the public. This portion will take some time.
Just because your everyday citizen does not see a Top Secret report as soon as it is handed in DOES NOT mean that the report was not turned in. Intel communities working on reports are not allowed to miss deadlines and request more time. Especially when it is the President calling for the information.
And before people say "well the FBI and CIA delay reports all the time." Do you really think President Trump is relying on the FBI or CIA for this? Absolutely not. This report is being done by the ones he trusts most.
Yes, our gratification from reading the report might get delayed, but the information WILL be handed in on time. Stop letting anonymous sources from Bloomberg tell otherwise, which is exactly who Fox quoted. Fox's report cited Bloomberg, Bloomberg cited "sources familiar with the situation."

This whole "it's good the report was delayed" posts smacks of "trust sessions", it makes us all wait for no reason instead of demanding answers now.
This is what I suspected. This seemed like a PR stunt to get everyone focused on foreign election interference. The headline reads purposefully controversial... so the left can't ignore it because they'll report on the fact that there's people in the IC who don't think China played a big role. Bloody hell not really man. You can delay a intel report and ask for more time. Happens all the time. That being said its obvious Trump has been getting either raw intel or mini reports leading up to this. In fact what is disputed in the final DNI report really seems underwhelming.
Whether or not China was circulating propaganda? Sure we expect as much. I feel like the DNI report is part of something larger just based on how they have been acting.

Yeah I am American. Well normally no, you do not deliver a report late to commander and chief. But these are weird times, and technically they DID deliver the report....a report it's just they left out China stuff. So technically they did not miss their deadline.

My guess is one of 2 things happened. Either something insane just happened...like the solarwinds hack...that they had to do extensive research on to add in. Or, a swamp rat is trying to scrub intel from the report and someone is making sure that doesn’t happen.
It seem analysts were debating the significance of the Chinese parts of the report. They might be in agreement on the facts, but not what those facts mean.

Multiple intel communities working on this together, you do not want to be the intel community that causes a delay. Plain and simple. Even if there is a delay, it will not be anything drastic at all. This "new intel" that was gathered will be put together quickly.
The new intel is likely from the solarwinds hack, this is complete speculation though. So they are likely corroborating the information reports from these.
But there is no way in hell they will delay it to January as being speculated. Maybe released to the American people in January, but report is being directly handed to the highest level people in the country, you bet your ass they are going to do everything they can to get the report turned in on time as ordered.
