For instance, China has wanted to annex Taiwan for a long time now, but it hasn't been able to because the US has pledged to defend it in a war. With the US distracted by a civil war, they could easily just swoop in and conquer the island. Also, effectively every US ally in Eastern Europe besides Poland is so weak compared to Russia that it isn't even funny. Russia could easily take control of all the lands east of the old soviet border plus Fennoscandia. By the time a civil war would end, I wouldn't be surprised if at least half of current US allies around the world would be taken over by US enemies such as China, Russia and Iran.
