NG get deployed all the time ,my 4 tours in Iraq & Afghanistan they were there in support rolls every time nothing new there.
With the REMFS caught slow walking the Presidents orders on our withdrawals my guess is they are handling dismantling/transport/ logistics which will be a huge task & covering tasks that military home for xmas were doing .

As for your question - I guess the are being temporarily converted into Active Duty? Thats probably the only way they will get deployed outside the country.
