You’re completely right. This comparison is ridiculous and the idolatry of trump on this website where so many claim to be Christian is becoming a problem.
I’ve also been noticing a LOT more disinformation on this page than there once was. Things seem to be going downhill.
The root word of "idol" is "fear." The idols we are dealing with today are things like masks. We wear masks out of fear, even though they do nothing, or almost nothing.
Trump is not Jesus and it's not right to idolize him at all. He may be our leader, but it's God who will save us or protect us from our enemies, not Trump. We can do nothing without God.
I don't feel it's a problem to think Trump was Heaven-sent. And this page was created to pull one over on "Impeach Trump" lefties. Considering how dire are most of the weapons available to us, I believe God would approve of this manner of fighting back.
You can believe God is using trump as a tool to enact his will, that’s fine, but that isn’t the comparison being made here. This is calling trump the second coming of Christ, which is what I take issue with.
I don't know why your comment is being down-voted.
I get why people pass around funny "GEOTUS" memes, it's fun and usually harmless - but displays like this are bizarre. We (rightfully) excoriated the left for heralding Barack Obama as their wannabe-messiah for 8 insufferable years, so the last thing we should be doing - especially those of us who are Christian - is turning to some kind of weird worship of a president.
This isn't to say that you shouldn't support Trump, nor is it to say that having a little fun is wrong. But it seems to me that if someone is placing Trump's face over that of Jesus, you're showing where your faith truly lies. And if your faith rests in one man, who will one day be gone, then I have some very bad news for you.
It just went over your head, that's all. The point is that he made an "Impeach Trump" page, got a collection of rabid lefties on it, and then changed it to this, so they are all now subscribed to the modified account's posts. He is not actually attempting to claim that Trump is literally Christ. It is for the bantz
I understand the "gotcha!" aspect of this, but honestly, I've seen pretty much the same thing from the other side. Some leftist will create a Twitter account where they act like a parody of Trump voters, constantly drawing comparisons between the president and the one who died for our sins, insisting that Trump can do no wrong, and generally mocking enthusiastic Trump supporters.
Even if this is only meant to fool a bunch of Democrat boomers, it still strikes me as being in poor taste and largely pointless. A better method would have been to create an "Impeach Trump" page, and spent the time putting out disinformation. For example, you tell your followers about MKUltra, and claim that Trump started it. After you tell them to research it, they quickly come to find out that Trump had nothing to do with it. Perhaps one or two Democrats have a "Wait, have I been lied to?" moment. Maybe their virw of the CIA isn't so warm after that.
But now I'm just rambling. Like I said, this is very off-putting to me, even if it is supposed to be a joke.
You're not wrong, but I err on the side of "aw, let it go" with this kind of thing. If he had fun doing it, if it helps his morale, that matters more than our moral griping, I think. Keep in mind the lockdown and the general horror and chaos of our world and how people are dropping like flies because of it. So we have to perform self-care and if making irreverent jokes like this helps him, I think God will forgive.
I never understood this about y'all Christians. Respectfully. The new testament is spot on. Beautiful (My toilet reading for many years. Chrushed It). I would leave the bathroom every morning amazed at what I just read.
Something that stood out to me about Jesus was what appeared to be his constant frustration with the disciples who refused to accept that they are also divine spirits! That they, too can heal! So why does "The Church" insist on creating a separation between us and God?
Are you familiar with the concept of IQ and the bell curve graph representing IQ distribution within a population? If it's true, and the evidence supporting it appears to be very strong, then about 1/2 of all people have below-average IQ, 1/4 -- are technically and clinically are morons (as medically defined). This is who you are hearing the most especially when it comes to MUH JEBUS. It's obviously a longer discussion but this is the gist of it.
The Pope would like to answer your question, but he could not hear it from within his walled city-state complex, surrounded by armed guards, in his well-appointed office surrounded by gold and silk and finery. Well, maybe later he'll answer you, but for now, we just have to deal with having no idea why the Church separates us from God.
I agree, but have to give you a downvote for not understanding that it's a joke, a way to torment the screeching leftist masses. OP is not actually claiming the two are equal. Instead, you introduced unnecessary concern trolling.

No, this page is a shitpost to annoy lefties. He is not making that as a genuine claim. Let it go.

Who is the author? I'm quite interested to read this. Currently reading Quantum Forgiveness: Physics, Meet Jesus by David Hoffmeister.
