The amount of the different shades of blue are causing an optical illusion of it being darker.

Yeah but to fix the illusion you just need a white transparent filter you gotta adjust its transparency until it looks right.. At least thats what I did when I had a similar problem. Its been since I've done stuff like that.

A tad dark and the colour is slightly oversaturated. IMHO.
