I was having a discussion about the virus on the World of Warcraft forums yesterday. I mentioned the 'global reset'. Within moments my account was suspended. They REALLY don't want anyone to hear about that.

Be thankful you're no longer funding them, in that case. ALWAYS be thankful when CHINACRATS reject YOUR time and YOUR money. Be thankful for that, patriot. Pick a new game.
The game has "WoW tokens" which you can spend in game gold to pay for your sub. So. Make enough gold. You can play for free.
Someone is m still paying USD for that token you buy though. Just kinda shifting financial responsibility.
The game is still heavily subscription based with a disgusting virtual market where you can buy worthless skins of mounts. Its more disgusting and loaded with micro transactions as bad as any mobile or EA game. I haven't played in years but I read that it is very similar to a mobile game and loaded with daily events to draw people to play every single day.
I think WoW has been free to play for a few years now. Not certain, though; I haven't played it in about 12 years.
I don't know. Wasn't that one super-heavy on in-game purchases?
For the first several years it was out, it had a monthly subscription fee (as was the norm for MMORPGs at the time). But I seem to recall hearing a few years back that the game had switched to a free-to-play model with in-game purchases for premium equipment.
No still subscription based, no pay to win, but there are some store bought stuff, just all cosmetics. You can pay for all of the above with in-game gold though through the wow token.
Nope. You pay $60 for the current expansion, and $15 a month to play.
If you're stupid, that is.
It's free to level 20. You can farm gold to buy WoW tokens at about 117,000 gold each. At level 20 this is a little more challenging. You still won't have access to new content unless you buy the game for $40.
It's still sad though now that it's owned by Activision and so much pay to win is occurring now. Legendaries are now almost buyable. You can either grind out quests, gather ingredients for hours to forge your item or you can pay about $10-$15 in gold and buy them on the auction house.
The true free to play is heavily restricted. You can pay a hefty monthly fee of ingame currency to have full access.
not being a doomer but in 20 years there still hasn't been a better mmo made than classic world of warcraft. but that's more of an industry problem than a political one. half life alyx is the first time I've seen any true innovation from video games in nearly 2 decades
