McConnell is close to the swamp, no doubt about it. So, if he is on their side, he urges against challenges. BUT, if he and Trump both 'already know' that challenges are coming...then McConnell STILL urges against challenges. This keeps him in the good graces of his handlers and follows the principle of falsely acting weak.
