A quick tutorial on how to make maille. Keep in mind that this is a more involved way of doing things- you can just buy the rings and only have to worry about assembly. Some people don't think butted maille (where the rings are just twisted into place but not fastened) is not worthwhile- they are wrong. There was plenty of butted maille throughout history. Just keep in mind it takes a long time to make a chain shirt.

Against a soy boy, it'll do fine. Wear the maille over a shirt and a hoodie or some other padding and it'll do even better.
