I made an entire shirt when i was in my teens and gave it away. It was a long process.

My 16th birthday present was a few miles of 14 gauge galvanized wire...

A quick tutorial on how to make maille. Keep in mind that this is a more involved way of doing things- you can just buy the rings and only have to worry about assembly. Some people don't think butted maille (where the rings are just twisted into place but not fastened) is not worthwhile- they are wrong. There was plenty of butted maille throughout history. Just keep in mind it takes a long time to make a chain shirt.

As for a few places to purchase rings for making maille-

That's great but you still need two plates of armor to shape it lol

Fused/welded mail is great against stabbing.

Against a soy boy, it'll do fine. Wear the maille over a shirt and a hoodie or some other padding and it'll do even better.

Come on, we're talking about a pocket knife here, not a spear or a crossbow bolt

This looks like a good tutorial:

Now you just need to braze the rings closed for added strength

Riveting the links is far superior. Though it’s also more time consuming or expensive.
