I made an entire shirt when i was in my teens and gave it away. It was a long process.

My 16th birthday present was a few miles of 14 gauge galvanized wire...

A quick tutorial on how to make maille. Keep in mind that this is a more involved way of doing things- you can just buy the rings and only have to worry about assembly. Some people don't think butted maille (where the rings are just twisted into place but not fastened) is not worthwhile- they are wrong. There was plenty of butted maille throughout history. Just keep in mind it takes a long time to make a chain shirt.
