Are you still afraid of the liberal narrative? You think the President should cuck like Romney/Bush/McCain etc? If anything having the GOP expose themselves as the same warmongering party of McCain/Bush who won't do anything about Big Tech censorship is a good thing. The GOP is not our friends.

4
UndefeatedMAGA 4 points ago +4 / -0

Truth. There are sadly a lot of shills on here who think just because a politician has an R by they’re name that they’re one of the good guys.

2

SneakyWino 1 point ago +1 / -0

My personal belief is pedos have no way out and run of the mill dirty politicians can either work with Trump and get a pass or they'll be dealt with legally. So many are compromised he can't hang them all, unfortunately. Pretty sure Mitch was dealing more than cocaine and his military tribunal awaits.

2
UndefeatedMAGA 2 points ago +3 / -1

Mitch is a shrewd navigator of the political landscape but you don’t last that long in DC without becoming a Swamp Creature. Or at least some of the swamp stink rubbing off. As much as his betrayal of GEOTUS sucks, at least he exposed himself for what he is. A backstabbing traitor to MAGA.

Well the senate has not recessed his entire presidency. Mcconnel did that so Trump could make no recess appointments. First time in history a president has not been able to make a single recess appointment. This was mcconnel and the traitorous GOP that kept Trump from being able to at least temporarily install someone that was not a political hack already on theuniparty ccp team.

7
bill_in_texas 7 points ago +8 / -1

The Senate NEVER goes on recess, not for the last 4 years, because that would have allowed Trump to make recess appointments. Mitch was careful to never allow Trump to do that. Such a team player, that Mitch.

Anaconda 0 points ago +3 / -3

The veto will be overridden with laughable majorities. Passed the senate with like a 87-13 vote and passed the house 375-60. Fucking laughable how corrupt congress is.

9
800080 9 points ago +10 / -1

Maybe a pocket veto? (or something like it)

A1 S7 US Constitution.

If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the same shall be a Law, in like manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its return, in which case it shall not be a Law.

Congress hasn't adjourned in a few years to avoid issues with President appointments avoiding their inspection. They recess instead. The leadership of both parties is in D.C. to try to work out compromises on funding bills that have to pass.

If Trump vetoes, Congresscritters would have to return to Washington to vote on the override but we're also close to the January 5 date when this congress is over and the next one starts the next day.

I refuse to believe someone who is capable of reasoning themselves into such a mindset to write a speech like that, would not also be 100% on board with MAGA/Democrats-are-Evil. For that reason, I will entertain the possibility that he’s on Team Trump, has been since at least the K. Hearing. He may be serving some kind of purpose, in his “traitorous” actions and anti-Trump commentary. The explanation for how this benefits Trump may not be obvious yet, because deceiving the Dems about it is important.

The only alternative is that he doesn’t believe what he said in that moment, is an incredible actor, and is a full-ass robotic career politician who doesn’t have ethics/morals as we know it, and will say or do anything to accomplish their goals (presumably weird and sick)

I don't trust Graham, but I can't find any evidence that he said to concede. I looked up "Lindsey Graham concede," and all I found was an interview where he's saying Trump shouldn't concede.

Even when Mitch cucked the other day, it looks like all Lindsey said Trump has a very narrow path to victory but that we should let those legal challenges play out. So he's being a bit of a doomfag, but it doesn't look like he's completely written off Trump yet.

Kavanaugh accusations were false flags. We all know now that not everyone trump appoints is not his friend. They knew RBG was not long for this world so they influence trump to pick someone who will stab his back given the opportunity. They then slander him with obviously false accusations and watch with glee as trump supporters flock to kavanaughs defense. They knew we would protect anyone who they criticize so he was guaranteed a scotus slot. Why do you think nothing happened to blasy ford after she lied repeatedly?

Because they own the politicians, courts and agencies that would enforce it.

That's what makes Trump so different. He already had more money than God, he can't be bought, he was able to do what he thought was good for our country without the influence of corporate money

...which is the exact reason the establishment Republicans plopped those knives in his back so quickly, he was costing them money.

I think terminating it is fine. You just give people the option of opting out of the editorializing done by the mods. I.e. all the stuff the mods remove would not be removed but you could make it invisible to your user experience by "opting in" to the curation decisions made by the current mod team members. Same end result but puts the power back in the users.

2
Foletado 2 points ago +4 / -2

The result of that would be that TD would be liable for anything users post and would need to pre-screen anything to ensure that it is not risky prior to publishing it.

Section 230 Safe Harbor summary. Recent past, actions, solutions.

3
bear__aware 3 points ago +3 / -0

I dunno what happened to the "public square" argument? Can't we just say that we will free a platform from liability if they don't infringe on people's free speech? I guess the post you link is saying that this would be like another attempt to enforce neutrality but it seems different than neutrality to me. Basically a "platform" would not be liable for things people post but people could sue them for infinging on free speech or something if what they posted was not illegal.

0
deleted 0 points ago +1 / -1
-1
Foletado -1 points ago +1 / -2

Removing 230 would not create that.

Re-interpreting 230 to require free-speech would also make TD and other advocacy sites impossible. For example, TD infringes upon the expression of Biden supporters, trolls, and people who want to put content on TD that makes TD look bad.

There are already laws against CP long before Section 230. Even without it, we could remove CP with ease.

But I sorta get what you're saying. Our website moderators would still want to remove other BS troll topics that would flood here.

I think there's an easy happy medium where website mods can curate without censoring.

1
LettersBeBlue 1 point ago +1 / -0

Section 230 is what protects the website from the time when the illegal/defamatory content is posted to when it is removed. It is what gives the website operator a reasonable amount of time to police the user-generated content.

Without Section 230, the millisecond illegal or defamatory content hits your servers and starts being shared by your website to other people, you are legally responsible for it.

1
Foletado 1 point ago +1 / -0

CP is criminal mainly. Eliminating 230 increases civil liability -- lawsuits. Anything that could be brought to court would be a risk. If it could be claimed to be defamatory, libelous, infringe copyright, identity theft...

2
Eroticaenthusiast 2 points ago +2 / -0

Waiting for a "happening" that's not going to happen is going to disappoint our side. And that's the problem. Conservatives are fine being disappointed, if they can go back to polishing their guns and screaming at the TV. The opponent believes they have the right to rule. They believe they have the moral imprimatur. And they do because we fail to resist them. We meme. We yell. We call representatives (who do nothing). We write letters (that are trashed). I know because I do it daily. I've run campaigns. I've written hundreds of emails and letters, to no avail. Until we act as the opponent does--unabashedly, unwaveringly--we will keep losing. The time is now, Mr. President. No more tweets. No more tiks. No more toks. You have 33 days, or it's over.

5
BloodyWolf 5 points ago +5 / -0

Our leaders failed you. They need to have the same energy.

2
TakingBackCA 2 points ago +2 / -0

We know this well in CA. Who we "vote" for is predetermined. This is not good for our Republic because it creates distrust in our institutions, which leads to authoritarian, conservative strongmen--as history repeats itself.

1
BloodyWolf 1 point ago +1 / -0

I would like to suggest that these figures we bemoan, and may have their own private faults, are more the responses that nature produces to corrupt systems, than the actual corrupters, like they are depicted. In other words, maybe CA could also use a conservative strongman, although hopefully a humane one.

This is the problem. You guys think someone else should do it for you. Did the founding fathers wait for someone in the British government start the rebellion for them? Fuck no they took it upon themselves. Everyone on this site is a larp and doesn’t have what it takes to use the 2nd amendment.

1
TakingBackCA 1 point ago +1 / -0

Acting alone is idiotic and without direction. We know this from history and all the times lone wolves have attempted to act against the State. Our Founding Fathers were quite smart. They organized, discussed, and then acted on a single unifying idea. Your picture of how the Revolution started is not accurate. It was not a bunch of aimless farmers who decided to rebel. In fact, they sent specific demands to their oppressors and did so on a specific timetable.

They were calculating. They were cautious. But most importantly, they were organized under a directive from centralized leadership. To say otherwise, is to be ignorant of our history.

Most crazy thing the congress was going to let the president declare wars and move troops anywhere in the world EXCEPT to bring them HOME. Which would require congress approval which would then be denied.

These people are TRAITORS.

Section 230 removal for big tech!

velocistar 5 points ago +6 / -1

Would he be doing this if he was gonna leave office next month? I mean, he knows it'd come right back if he left, so I don't see how he'd bother doing this if he was gonna leave.

Sounds like he has no plans to leave. He really can't afford to, knowing his 5 years of trying to put America first would be in vein.

Ignore him. He took a biology class once and thinks he knows everything.

Parasitism is a symbiotic relationship in which one species (the parasite) benefits while the other species (the host) is harmed.

Parasitism is a subset of symbiosis.

Fuck the defense bill. Invoke the insurrection act. The defense bill can wait.

2
Anaconda 2 points ago +5 / -3

The veto will be overridden with laughable majorities. Passed the senate with like a 87-13 vote and passed the house 375-60. Fucking laughable how corrupt congress is.

2
Camel-Toe-Harris 2 points ago +2 / -0

Delete your Twitter account and invoke the insurrection act already! Here’s the indisputable facts: You’ve appointed 2 swamp rat AG’s and 3 SCOTUS judges that ALL betrayed America. If you truly love America, it’s time to start treating everyone around you like an enemy. You clearly don’t have the best judgement when it comes to choosing who would actually would die for this country before caving to the left’s threats. It’s time to step up, or step down and give the keys to the globalists.

Eliminating only section 230 would be bad. Eliminating the entire Telecommunications Act of 1996 might be good though.

We can try to stop it

1
Foletado 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes, by stopping Trump's efforts to remove section 230 for starters. Now removing the entire Telecommunications Act of 1996, on the other hand...

Getting rid of Section 230 is a HUGE mistake. We need to reform Section 230 so that Free Speech is protected and when platforms decide to moderate speech then they can be sued just like a publisher.

Without Section 230 all the .win sites could be sued if a leftist posted something libelous or uploaded copyrighted material.

Unfortunately Trump is dead wrong on 230. It needs to be given teeth. Not revoked. Big tech would love it to be revoked. Sites like this, Parler, Bitchute, et al can't possibly survive no 230 protections.

This is good, I'm military and I support this veto. The senate won't get off their asses to make the hard change to Section 230 that is needed without a forcing function (TRUMP is that). There is good analysis that 230 should not be completely terminated, but instead receive significant changes.
Okay, do SOMETHING, not NOTHING.
