Resident physicians are indentured servants. When we are interviewing, we make a list of where we ideally want to go, the programs do the same, but ultimately we get little say where we "match". Once we are matched, its a binding contract that we cannot attempt to alter or leverage so whatever pay they offer is what we get, we cannot try to get a raise. We cannot field offers from other programs once the match has been made. Once in the program you have agreed to work there for 3 years for 1/6th the pay of a doctor and agree to abide by all policies set by the hospital/program. If you speak up, step out of line, fight things or are essentially an independent thinker, you will be kicked out. Once kicked out of a program, no other program will touch you. And you cannot practice without a residency. Well you technically can but have to charge cash only and will get literally buttfucked if ever sued.
In keeping with the theme, many residents kill themselves or die from car accidents before they complete their contract (similar to indentured servants dying before their contract was up).
So long story short - want to be a doctor? Put up and shut up or hit the bricks and go fuck yourself
People are mad because we got into this mess because nobody was willing to risk or sacrifice anything to maintain their freedom. It's why decadent, complacent societies always fall.
I too have an advanced degree and high paying job that took a lifes work to obtain, but am willing to move on the minute they mandate a potentially dangerous vaccine for a virus that amounts to little more than a cough for people in my age group.
I understand, I really do. Everyone has to draw their own line in the sand. The reason I'm bitter is because those of us choosing to draw our lines at mandated vaccination don't stand a chance if our numbers are small, and this type of post serves to further weaken the resolve of those willing to make a stand.
No thanks, I like to keep my jobs flexible. For me I like the idea of I show up and do my job well and I keep it, I can tell them to fuck off if I want and go my own way, I like freedom. Even when I was a contractor I never signed myself into a corner where I was forced to do anything that didn't have to be negotiated after the fact
Hey, sorry to hear you have to go through that, and hope you don’t suffer any negative effects. Some people don’t understand the leverage the system has over people caught early in their career during this time.
Like I would’ve told my boss to fuck off when we had to start wearing a mask, if it weren’t for the fact that I would harm my ability to establish myself as a professional.
And then I hear all this shit about how that’s hurting freedom I’m a cuck whatever.
Not everyone is retired or ready to retire.
I am fortunately in a field where licensure and credentials don’t have you by the balls so much, so I will draw the line at a vaccine if it comes to that

All that dancing and no answers at all.
WHY take it? 'Mandated' is not an acceptable answer. Why would you want to be a doctor and a slave both?
Bankers send their mistakes to the poor house, lawyers send their mistakes to prison, doctors such as Fauci send their mistakes to the morgue.
Are you like that, no conscience, no reasoning other than money?
WHY take it, why test, why did the mRNA vaccine get approved in record time for a non-existent threat?

Why the downvotes? Poster is laying out how the residency program works. Just because it sucks and needs revision doesn't mean he deserves downvotes.

I have 400,000 in student loans and no career path if I get kicked out.
