Resident physicians are indentured servants. When we are interviewing, we make a list of where we ideally want to go, the programs do the same, but ultimately we get little say where we "match". Once we are matched, its a binding contract that we cannot attempt to alter or leverage so whatever pay they offer is what we get, we cannot try to get a raise. We cannot field offers from other programs once the match has been made. Once in the program you have agreed to work there for 3 years for 1/6th the pay of a doctor and agree to abide by all policies set by the hospital/program. If you speak up, step out of line, fight things or are essentially an independent thinker, you will be kicked out. Once kicked out of a program, no other program will touch you. And you cannot practice without a residency. Well you technically can but have to charge cash only and will get literally buttfucked if ever sued.
In keeping with the theme, many residents kill themselves or die from car accidents before they complete their contract (similar to indentured servants dying before their contract was up).
So long story short - want to be a doctor? Put up and shut up or hit the bricks and go fuck yourself
People are mad because we got into this mess because nobody was willing to risk or sacrifice anything to maintain their freedom. It's why decadent, complacent societies always fall.
I too have an advanced degree and high paying job that took a lifes work to obtain, but am willing to move on the minute they mandate a potentially dangerous vaccine for a virus that amounts to little more than a cough for people in my age group.

Why the downvotes? Poster is laying out how the residency program works. Just because it sucks and needs revision doesn't mean he deserves downvotes.

I have 400,000 in student loans and no career path if I get kicked out.
