Bush should have make him the jr member of the court and promoted Thomas. Was a huge disservice to Thomas and the court. Doesn't really matter now though does it. The court is as crooked as any other institution.
I think the only one in the Senate at that time that would have voted against him would have been Sniffy Joe. Would have been an easy move at that time.

That would have subjected Justice Thomas to another Senate confirmation hearing, which I would assume he'd have rather not been put through.
