Imagine if CNN, for example, or even the Washington Post or NY Times, (more likely, all three working in concert with one another), all starting challenging everything Biden says and does. Here's how it plays out:
They get to claim instant credibility by calling "truth to power!"
They can claim non-partisanship, non-biased news coverage
They lose nothing whatsoever, because by claiming Joe Biden's scalp, they don't lose a Democrat in the White House, they actually gain the first black female president in Kamala Harris.
There's literally no downside for the media to go after Joe Biden in the most vigorous way possible. It's literally open season on the dude as soon as he's inaugurated.
Notice how the fake news have shifted their message about Hunter Biden all of a sudden? They want Hunter to be the fall guy so they can push China Biden into office.
I'll be honest, I didn't listen to the whole video, so I'm not sure what Rudy actually said, but there's no way the media is trying to "protect" Joe fucking Biden.
At BEST, they are "slow rolling" the scandal coverage UNTIL Joe becomes President.
After that, it's absolutely open season on him and his family. He's TOAST.

By taking out a sitting Democrat President, they gain everything and lose nothing.
They gain power, credibility and they get Kamala Harris to replace him.
