He is convinced that's where the terrorists will attack and he wants to see if he can do anything to stop it. Poor guy isn't on the job for more than a few weeks when the planes hit and he dies. Its a great documentary. He was kinda an expert on Bin Laden , but dang what a crazy twist.
Not sure about the black guy , but a Hispanic man named William Rodriquez, the building manager, was in the basement of the North Tower and attests that the walls blew inward from explosions before the building started to collapse from above. Yeap, this is real bad. I'm just a lowly programmer and been out of IT for years now, although did work for Cisco for a while and worked on their IOS, so I know networking. I also know what Solarwinds is and what their Orion product does and so many are places are just absolutely fucked by this.
Not just governments but so many large corporations are just completely compromised. The CCP, just stole a massive amount of Intellectual Property.
When networks are compromised, the first thing any hacker would do is ensure continuity of access even if their original vector was discovered and closed.
It really is to a level where they might as well just create brand new networks and start over, then being extremely careful bring the data across.
It is my personal belief and has been for decades, that all corporate and government networks that contain any sensitive data, should not have any access to the Internet due to the risk. However this is completely impractical in many cases due to the need for remote working etc.

Pretty much. Imagine a burglar picks the lock on your front door and breaks in, as soon as they are in they unlock all your windows and dig 10 secret tunnels into your home so even when you change the lock on the front door, they still have access.
Any of these networks that had Solarwinds now must be assumed to be so full of holes they are like swiss cheese.

And even if you had encryption, you yourself have almost no way to distribute that codes to people who want to drop in without a 100% certainty that it will be intercepted. Never mind HAM is so low-power it can be easily jammed and I'm somewhat doubtful you have frequency-hopping equipment... and again, even if you did, you have no way to talk to anyone unless they have the same setup and you distribute the information to them without it being compromised.

as for your comment about never using windows if you had security in mind all i have to say is if you want to be productive in the corporate/governmental/academic & healthcare world you have no choice but to use Windows, Windows Server and what not. Try replacing Windows with Linux across the board and see how you long you stay employed and how long the business does. Hint: Not fucking long.
And as i have stated multiple times now. Linux or BSD is no more natively secure than Windows out of the box. As engineers you still have to deploy with security in mind and if you do not do that then you are not very good at your job. I am very good at mine and have the financial compensation and respect by my peers that reflects it

I have heard that various aspects of our infrastructure have been hacked by the Chinese for years, yet no one has ever done anything about it. It's pathetic if they haven't tried to fix it. Actually it's worse, it's downright criminal. These things can be fixed. And they must be fixed. The fact that they weren't is criminal.
