I have a stem degree and used to think I knew everything, but my personal life was a mess.

When I returned to the church, I did it with a lot of skepticism.

But here's the thing... The word of God WORKS. I don't understand it, don't get how or why. With that it was goodbye skepticism and hello faith.

Adam & Eve I haven't studied in depth but IMHO: When they disobeyed God and ate from tree they gained knowledge of good and evil. What is that knowledge? Only further temptation. Temptation to do the evil shit we're fighting now: assassinations and blackmail and rigged elections.

Another take is it represents our exit from the natural state of living as part of the animal kingdom. One which has its own innocence. Like a tiger is super vicious and murderous, but also has an innocence people don't have, you know?

Job was a man who didn't follow God for Faith's sake; he was using his rituals of offerings as an insurance policy.

Ultimately God wanted Job to be truly walking in faith. I saw a great sermon on this, I'll find a link if you're interested.

For me; the proof is in the pudding. In immeasurable ways my life is better

Repaying him? Idk. Do you repay your kids when you punish them? Sometimes the payment is in the personal growth.

To some that is more valuable than millions

To others it's dissatisfying

Huh, I'm angry at god not because of his double standards, but because he is a sack of shit whose best effort was creating humanity (absolute garbage work IMO).

10
PresidentialRex 10 points ago +10 / -0

Humanity is imperfect so God sucks. Spicy take. I feel like you’d massively benefit from the Bible and a relationship with God but I don’t want to push you to do something you don’t want to, and likely never will do. Hopefully you get to a place where you’re open to the possibility that God (and his plan for us) has more depth than your current understanding.

That’s just it. When we humble ourselves to him and embrace the mysteries of life and trust Him with the unknown, pieces fall together in unexpected ways.

8
Nancypelosisoldliver 8 points ago +10 / -2

I have a hard time reading stories for long periods of time so when I can't get the energy to read entire chapters I just open up to proverbs and read one or two, close the book, then a few minutes later I do it again.

And proverbs is usually about right smack in the middle so it's really easy to open up too. Weird, almost like God himself organized the book.

I just love how I can both read it word for word, chapter for chapter, paragraph for paragraph, and sentances for sentence or book for book. Whatever kind of reader you are, the way you like to read can be read in that book of books somewhere

I was as athiest as it gets. Completely unwilling to hear anything outside what I already believed and he saved me. Made sure I didn't get off the redpill train all the way until it stopped at jesus station. If god is everywhere all the time and he can work his magic on me, he's working his magic on everyone.

I firmly believe god works even within the most duranged propaganda that exists. It might look crazy to me but the people that believe the propaganda and watch it are being worked on just as I was. They either don't know it, don't understand how it could be true or choose not to believe it because God is a "fairytail"

Their is one thing I've learned I'd like to share. I think God can save everyone but he chooses to give people the choice to choose not to follow him. So he could save us all but if you choose hell yourself he's more than happy to send you there although he created the universe just to have a relationship with you so it's the absolute last thing he wants to do, but god knows if you love something you set it free. Even if that means realising then into satans grip of death itself. He will let you be a slave to satan but he will never make you be a slave to him. Everyone who follows God was never forced, they chose the father themselves. Usually resulting in their own death on earth, but in return being gifted life forever. Death is unavoidable. Satan takes you to your death for eternity, Jesis takes you to life after death for eternity

Got a slightly different take on it. God wanted to create a righteous being.

Being righteous, is something that needs to be earned, and it can only be earned through free will, and choosing the right path in the face of free will.

Angel's can be pure, but they can not be righteous. People can be righteous, but they can also be Marxist Assholes. It is in each persons hands to choose a path.

Bible prophets predicted this event a decade ago.

11
E-dantes 11 points ago +12 / -1

The u.s. doesnt exist in prophecy. Let that sink in. Not dooming. Will fight for her till my last breath. But that doesnt change. If we are witnessing the end of this age, things must happen. I encourage all to read the book of revelation at least three times. First time:confusing and somewhat scary due to imagery. Second: your eyes begin to open and you see things in our past you didnt see before. Third time: refreshing and comforting as you see it all play out. We may not be there yet, but we are damn close

4
Isolated_Patriot 4 points ago +4 / -0

The u.s. doesnt exist in prophecy.

Not as it's own entity, no. But "western civilization" as a whole is still the Iron mixed With clay from Daniel. We are still the Roman Empire. Nothing in our culture or laws has truly changed since it first splintered.

4
E-dantes 4 points ago +4 / -0

The new roman empire is the e.u. symbolised by a whore in scarlet on the back of a beast. Check out the e.u. statue out front of the main office of the e.u.

Actually the bible makes it very clear it's Jerusalem...

Every single Babylon reference in Revelation is a reference to Jerusalem..

https://sermontranscript.com/jerusalem-is-babylon/

3
Hillary_is_Satan 3 points ago +3 / -0

Revelation 2:13 (KJV)

13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

Babylon is Rome. Satan's seat is in Rome. The Antichrist will be a Roman pope. Jerusalem on the other hand is called "the holy city."

Revelation 11:2 (KJV)

2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

This is obviously just scratching the surface of Revelation, you should study the whole book verse by verse, word by word. Each word has meaning.

God has not forgotten his promises to the children of Israel, Satan wants you to think he has.

2
MatthiasBlack 2 points ago +2 / -0

I think an argument could be made that spiritual succession plays a role in this, as obviously the Roman Empire is long gone. Many assume the US to be the spiritual successor of Rome, though I see it more as Western Civilization as a whole. Especially as reinstated by the Napoleonic reforms throughout Europe which eventually took hold here due to the bankers' influence.

2
MatthiasBlack 2 points ago +2 / -0

I read most of the entries that are being compared, but almost all of them relate to the first Coming of the Son of Man, not the second? For example, "In this generation" in Matthew 23:36 it is specifically talking about the Pharisees in Jerusalem during Jesus's time in the flesh. Most of those other passages, such as from Jeremiah and Ezekiel, are much the same. Spiritually and allegorically, the passages in Revelation mirror those of the old prophets as they talk about the First Coming (for obvious reasons), but in the literal literary sense I don't see how those comparisons hold up to scrutiny.

Revelation makes many clear delineations where the land of the End Times is "spiritually" the land of Sodom and Egypt. The United States may not exist in a literal written sense in Revelation, but that does not mean it is not present in the End Times. In fact, the US is guaranteed to be in the End Times because these forces war against the "strongest fortresses" Dan 11:38-42.

Furthermore, Babylon CANNOT be modern Jerusalem. Rev 18 assures us that Babylon is a consumer nation/city with many imports:

11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more: 12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble, 13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men. 14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all. 15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,

This is clearly not about Jerusalem. However, the US does in fact import all of those things (chariots of course being cars but no such word existed in their vocabulary, and slaves... well just look at our H1B program and our illegal immigration), perhaps especially the "souls of men" who seek opportunities here. The only other nations that could maybe possibly fit this are like China and maybe the Vatican.

1
DaesDaemar 1 point ago +1 / -0

We don't need to exist in prophecy centered around Israel in order to still exist. I believe we will have one last global revival before things get really bad. We've already seen the plans but I believe they will be thwarted one last time before the Rapture and there is no one to stop them.

1
E-dantes 1 point ago +1 / -0

What is meant by what i said is that there is no mention of the u.s at all regarding the future history of the world in regard to GLOBAL events in relation to Christ. I will fight for our country with every fiber of this mortal shell. But, having said that, there will come a time when this country as we know it WILL cease to exist. A metaphorical blip on the biblical radar. Whether that time is now or not, no one knows. I'm only going to say that if this is our time, lets go out with such a righteous fight that the whole world feels it. If not our time to slip into the pages of history, my we win the day!

2
DaesDaemar 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don't believe our time is over just yet, but if so I completely agree.

The Bridge to Life

One of the oldest questions humankind has been asking is, “How can I know God?” The question is a valid one. What is He like? What can we do to please Him? How can we get to Heaven? If we work hard enough to be a good enough person will He accept us then? If we do enough religious activities to get His attention, will that do it?

Fortunately for us, the answer is surprisingly simple. The “Gospel” that the Bible talks about literally means, “the Good News,” and the news is good indeed!

First, we have to start at the beginning. In Genesis 1:26, when God created the first humans, He said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness”, then God blessed them and spent the days walking and talking with the people He had created. In short, life was good.

But why isn’t life like that anymore? What happened to mess everything up? This brings us to the second point: when we (humankind) chose to do the opposite of what God told us, sin poisoned the world. Sin separated us from God, and everything changed. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”  and in Isaiah 59:2 we’re told, “your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you so that he will not hear.”

This is especially bad news because there is no way for us to get across that gap on our own. We (humankind) have tried to find our way back to God and a perfect world on our own ever since then, and without any luck. We try to get there by being good people, or through religion, money, morality, philosophy, education, or any number of other ways, but eventually we find out that none of it works. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death” (Proverbs 14:12).

There is only one way to find peace with God, and the Bible says it is through Jesus Christ. We were stranded without any way of getting back to our Creator, and we needed a way to pay for our sins and be clean again so that we could be welcomed back to be with Him. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

So this is the Good News—that even though we were still enemies of God (as one translation says), Jesus came to die on the cross and pay the price for our sins so that we could have a relationship with Him again. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

What then should be our reaction to this awesome news? This brings us to the last and most important part. John 5:24 says, "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.” Jesus Christ himself even says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10), and Romans 5:1 says, “we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

So how can I have peace with God, life to the full, and be confident of eternal life like these verses say? First, through an honest prayer to God, I have to admit that I’m not perfect—that I can’t escape my sins, and I can’t save myself. I follow this admission by believing that Jesus Christ died for me on the cross and rose from the grave, conquering death and sin. Then I invite Jesus Christ to live in me and be the Lord of my life, accepting His free gift of eternal life with Him.

The prayer can go something like this:

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite you to come into my heart and my life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. Through faith in You I now have eternal life. In Your holy name I pray Lord Jesus. Amen."

There is nothing magical about these words. It’s not the words themselves that make things right between you and God—it’s whether or not your heart really means it. We know this because in 1 Samuel 16:7, the Bible says, “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

The best part of this whole process is that it doesn’t matter how badly we’ve messed up, Jesus is powerful enough to save anyone from their sins—even the worst of us. Romans 10:13 says, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." That’s fantastic news—no matter how badly we’ve messed up, we can place our complete trust in Jesus, and He will wipe all of our sins off the face of the earth. Jesus is the bridge to life.

I have never seen so many people come to realize just how wicked the left really is. I mean, I’m a prime example. As a Christian, I never really gave “Planned Parenthood” much thought. Now that Trump is in office and former employees of abortion clinics have testified under oath just how evil these clinicians and “doctors” are, I’m appalled. This is just one example and I’m sure I’m not the only one. I’ve been too nice too long. We all have. Time to wise up and call out the evil and the proud deviates that should be ashamed of themselves instead of having sanctioned degenerate “Pride” parades.

The world is something else right now. The list of bizarre things get longer with every year in clown world. I'm literally listening to southern rappers who have gone Christian and somehow they're putting out more bangers than what originally brought them out of the ghetto and into the nicer parts of town I end up working at lol. My faith was reignited this year and the one thing I haven't been able to do yet is pick that book up. It always seemed too overwhelming to embark on reading something that's had so much impact on the world. This rapper had a line that sounded so fucking cringe in song but for some reason I liked it. Then a poster on here out of nowhere laid down a comment breaking it down while talking with another pede.

Shout-out to that Soloman.

You may not care for this style of music but I'll link it anyways because there can't be a huge amount of positive uplifting rapping content lol. Maga rappers are going strong too. It's just easier to jam these in my hood than those lol.

I picked up all the Trump audiobooks on Audible, definitely gives insight into the mind and motivations of Trump.

Thanks for the reminder to stop F5'ing, to Trust, Read, Worship and to Pray. And I'm over here looking for my next dopamine hit like a junkie.

Agreed. Romans 12:12....Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer...

This is a time of tribulation, so hold the line. Pray when you feel discouraged. Christmas is a season of hope because no matter what we will have eternity with God.
