It sounds like you went to shit school then, no offense. My med school actively works to make sure that old test questions can't get circulated. All of our exams are online, monitored, and we get 1 piece of scrap paper that's discarded afterward. Our professors would absolutely get hanged if people found out they were favoring certain students and giving them answers, especially if there's any sort of sexual connotations. There's legit no incentive to cheat because we're P/F. Like I don't think we have students that are SO dumb that they need to cheat to get a fucking 70%.

I've certainly heard of at least one med student who was circulating exams at an overseas school and got expelled. But international med schools are often dogshit anyways with no real standards for their admitted students (literally anyone with a pulse can get in). I'm talking exclusively about US MD schools because I don't know what sort of clown fiestas go on in DO or international schools.

lmao what? You do know that NBME practice exams are old board questions right? Those are pretty standard materials to pass onto underclassmen. No shit there are fresh questions every year, that's how every standardized exam works.

I thought I responded already.

I STRONGLY support P/F system for this exact reason. Unfortunately my dental school was graded. And it was chaos bc there was double jeopardy with some remediate courses having a highest potential grade of a ‘C.’ Which is below the 2.5 cumulative needed to graduate. So if you fail the first time and get a D or an E and then pass the remediation with a perfect score you are punished with a second grade failing pulling your gpa further below the graduation cutoff.

That’s how those motherfucking crooks got me. On a gpa technicality. I passed every single graded course but I was below 0.02 below the minimum cumulative so I was mathematically unable to get it higher. Final semester. They stole the $400k from me and gave me the boot.

I said med school for brevity but it was podiatry school. I think it may have been the last one in the country still graded. But it was last minute snd my only option. And it was the same bullshit as dental school all over again with the secret old exams passed around. Which of course I wasn’t privy to.

And yes I love how old board exams are available to study from. I crushed every standardized board exam I took on first try bc of the fairness of them.

I’m glad the allopathic schools aren’t fucked like the dental schools.

“There's legit no incentive to cheat because we're P/F. “

That’s how every school should be and I was in one of the last hold outs. I said med school for brevity but I went to podiatry school and it was still graded. So was dental school. Was awful.

I’m very jealous of how your med school program was set up.

I crushed my dental boards alongside ecery standardized test I ever took bc of practice exams. The problem in my programs was that they were kept secret and not open to every student. There should be 20 years of old exams for every student to study from imo.

We are in strong agreement here of how it should be. My experience couldn’t have been worse.
