God wants us to be responsible. The disciples were armed. Peter cutt a man's ear off. Jesus healed the man's ear. He did not rebuke Peter for being armed.

God also wants us to be holy. He had Israel destroy entire peoples to keep them pure and separated from the false gods of the pagans around them worshipping Baal and Moloch. We are only fighting the people worshipping Baal and Moloch...

Jesus also flipped tables in the synagogue. We can flip a few tables in righteous anger.
