Semper Fi. I'm retired US Army, son is USMC. On his way to Basic at PI, I asked him why Marines? He said I'm going to come back and kick your ass. All I needed to hear to know I raised him right! (BTW he came home and we're closer than we've ever been)
That's outstanding. My dad is a also a vet (USMC 67-71) and it's a very special bond when you've both been there. Some things change but some things stay the same. It's fun to get lost in your own little world together sharing memories. Even the mundane stuff about how the lids on your canteens are always broken or something.

Back at you. Met a USMC Vet at Lowes yesterday (he wanted to see my sidearm, 1911 Colt, like I said, old school Army guy) and we had a great conversation. Ended with the military terms that aren't well understood in the civilian world such as 'I had to go unfuck it after I screwed the pooch'. Big laughs.
