An Appeal to Reason to Amend our Constitution to Save our Republic.             MAGA
posted ago by Jaunty_Haul +32 / -1

Gather round, frens, and listen to my appeal:

Twelve score and four years ago, our forefathers built this awesome fucking country by kicking ass and taking names. We should all salute and honor them for their courage, but they were more than courageous. They were brilliant.

They bequeathed to their children and the successive generations including our own, a great nation ruled not by tyrants, but by laws which we had a hand in writing ourselves. The Constitution they penned to serve as the backbone of our government is a work of stable genius.

But, for many generations now, that Constitution has been under attack. That attack has taken many forms, with many ignorant voices crying out with their small-minded "justifications" for change over the decades. For the most part, those attacks have fallen short, but many have hit home and our Republic has suffered.

The most potent attacks to the Constitution before this 2020th Year of Our Lord have been by exploiting one of the Constitution's most cherished features, the ability to make Amendments to "update" the Constitution to better meet the needs of Americans as time progresses inexorably.

Over time, several Amendments have been made which have proven very detrimental to our Republic in the years since implementation. Let's take a brief look at those mistakes.

The 16th Amendment, passed in 1913, permits Congress to levy an income tax.

Basic economics states that if you want less of something, tax it. This Amendment is an obvious FAIL, unless you want to attempt the argument that we are somehow better off with less income.

The 17th Amendment, also passed in 1913, completely changed the method by which we elect Senators. Prior to the 17th, state legislatures would elect the Senators sent to DC to represent each state. This made the US Senate a direct extension of our state legislatures.

The 17th dictates that Senators are to be directly elected by popular vote. This change alters the nature of the US government away from the Republicanism intended by our nation's founders and toward the direct democracy for which they had disdain. Direct democracy is nothing but legalized mob rule. FAIL.

The 18th Amendment, Alcohol Prohibition, passed in 1919, was such an obvious nuclear FAIL that it was repealed in 1933 by the 21st Amendment.

The 19th Amendment granted women the right to vote. I'm just going to leave that one here to avoid having to argue about this at length with all the beautiful well-meaning lady pedes out there. I just ask that you consider the issue thoroughly, with an eye toward the history of past empires. America is, without a doubt, a modern empire, and we will be subject to the same fate if we do the same things.

From the 19th, I'm going to skip ahead to the 26th Amendment which lowered the voting age to 18. This, to me, is where America got it so wrong the injury will be fatal if not remedied soon.

The 26th Amendment grew out of the controversy regarding the draft during the Vietnam War. It was the fastest Amendment ever from proposition to ratification, which took an amazingly short 100 days. It's easy to see why. Both sides of the political divide liked it.

It had the support of all the anti-War young hippies, who wanted to be able to vote against the war, and it had the support of all the older pro-War patriots who wanted to show respect and gratitude for their sons who were soldiers dying by the thousands to combat communism. "If you are old enough to die for your country, you should at least be able to vote" is a forceful argument.

However, I think this argument is completely destroyed by eliminating the draft.

As a result, I believe this Amendment, the 26th, is the first we must repeal if we want to save America, Constitutionally, for the long haul. Here's why: modern neuroscience indicates that the human mind is still in the developmental stage until age 25.

Jonathan Haidt is a social psychologist who works for NYU. He and his research partner have put an incredible amount of time in studying the roots of moral psychology, and he's written several books about their findings.

One of their discoveries is that there are 5 fundamental roots from which we can make moral decisions. Conservatives, according to their testing, use all 5 roots to varying degrees when choosing between right and wrong. Lefties only use 2 of the 5.

The difference seems to be one of maturity. Lefties are either simply young and their brains are literally still developing, or they are older but have had their mental maturation process stunted for any of various reasons, like childhood trauma or intoxicants used at an early age.

Repealing the 26th Amendment with an Amendment that eliminates the draft and raises the voting age to 25 would destroy the left. They absolutely depend on the immature minds of young "adults" to buy into their commie garbage bullshit. The under 25 crowd can't help but fall for it. They are physically, biologically, literally too stupid for conservatism.

We NEED to deny them the ability to use their stupidity to destroy America.

I know many will say, "Too little, too late. The damage has already been done!"

To this I say, "All is not lost. We can save this nation, and we can fix our problems. We are Americans."

This may not be the most pressing issue right now, as holding the traitorous fraudsters to account must take precedence for obvious reasons, but this single change will go a long, long way toward providing the mature governance we need to secure America's blessings for our children and their children.

Thanks for your time, frens.

This is all well and good, but it’s only half the issue. The other half is immigration. We used to get waves of immigrants every decade or so, but ever since the ~60s it’s been one unending tidal wave with no signs of ever stopping (how could it stop? Our government keeps sending food to the places that the immigrants come from)

The old kind of immigrant came mostly from the countries Americans came from. The new kind all come from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. They don’t share our history, our values, and in many cases don’t even share our language. They also don’t provide for themselves. They don’t come here to work. They come here to be taken care of. (Even ones who work take advantage of tax breaks for immigrants, subsidized housing, child tax credit programs, etc. That stuff is all just welfare with extra steps)

If these people weren’t voting then people like “the squad” wouldn’t stand a chance of getting elected. You can say these other amendments weakened the foundation of America, but immigration is the actual biological weapon that the elites use to destroy developed nations today. Any nation that is unwilling to close its borders will be destroyed by it.

Agreed. Both halves must be addressed.

BUILD THE WALL.

You forgot another big one:

The constitution never legitimized slavery as legal... until they passed the 13th Amendment.

Used to have to be a property owner to vote. Since property taxes pay for several community programs , only those who foot the bill should have a say in how much they pay. When they allowed those who earn nothing, contribute nothing, who reap the benefits of those who work and earn (and reap nothing) to vote on how much MORE they wanted put in these programs, it became lopsided. Because the takers ALWAYS want more, while the earners say ENOUGH!!

Even when I didnt own my home, I still got taxed every day of my life. Now im still getting taxed but im getting a chance at equity which just means more money i'll have a chance to get taxed on. If we want only property owners to vote, I want to be able to sell my home and never pay taxes again on anything.

kazimiera 1 point ago +1 / -0

The reason behind ONLY property owners having a say on taxation was because " he who foots the bill should be the one who has say-so" People who contribute nothing to the coffers are being allowed to dip in and take what they want, and THEN when the " bills " come due, Politicians are demanding that taxpayers give MORE because, " we wasted what you gave us, so we need more"

Bullshit. A complete accounting from every state for their expenditures should be required at least once per year, and not as the Constitution says " FROM TIME TO TIME". That vague reference of when they should show accounts is exactly what has screwed us. Because everyone is skimming the till without repurrcussions

Good post. We should be looking toward the future as well to keep this from happening again. However I heard somewhere that it is always the third generation after conflict that has to learn the lesson again.

Yes, memories are personal, and too many are ignorant of history.

Allowing mental children to vote exacerbates the problem by speeding it up.

Great post, great hommage to MLK!

I would add two things: No birthright citizenship of some sort...if your parents are illegals you don't get a vote. If half of your grandparents are illegals, you don't get a vote. If one of your four great-grandparents are illegals, you don't get a vote.

Also, if you collect welfare during a given year, you don't get to vote for another 4 years. So if you collect at any point in 2020, you don't get a vote in 2021, 2022, 2023, or 2024. Unemployment wouldn't count since everyone pays in to that out of their own wages.

Also: If you're in the military, police, or fire department you can vote at 18, otherwise 26.

1
Jaunty_Haul [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I agree about birthright citizenship, but I think that might be addressable via executive order rather than included in the Amendment for which I'm calling.

I'm not sure about disenfranchising those who collect welfare for a limited time, nor am I convinced it's a good idea to disenfranchise first time felons (something you didn't mention, I know). I think both things can happen due to poor decision making in shitty circumstances, rather than devilish malintent, too easily for such a weighty mandatory punishment.

Adding early voting rights to those who volunteer to serve our nation in the military makes sense to me. Doing it for those that choose to be policemen or firefighters seems to have less justification, in my mind, though I understand why you might make that case. We must remember not to overcomplicate things and to keep our toes from infringing on the slippery slope.

Thanks for your ideas.

Perhaps something where you collect welfare for more than 12 consecutive months would make sense, since you do have a point.

Contrary to popular belief, the youth vote does not actually away elections otherwise Bernie would have been the DNC nominee.

It's a propaganda technique used to get at middle aged Dems who think that they are still young. They push propaganda to make the Dems seem cool, which gets the attention of the twenty-somethings and the parents of teens.

Remember that there are twice as many thirty-somethings as there are people between the ages of 18-23.

Remember that Trump won this time. There's no problem with our demographics voting. It's that it was rigged. Trump has shown us time and time again that you don't need to prevent people from voting to win as a Republican. You just need to fight.

1
NerBolanski 1 point ago +1 / -0

Demographics affect voting. Trump won because his policies and ideas hit the core old Americans who want a sense of community, jobs, demographics order, and stability. the reason he saw an uptick in Hispanics is mostly because of BLM. Trump's pandering to blacks didn't really help him; he pushed some white voters away with his pandering. Why do you think the media and politicians push diversity so much?

1
sordfysh 1 point ago +1 / -0

The media pushes diversity to get to white voters.

Trump won in 2016 even with a very strong majority of minorities voting against him. In 2020 he dashed that minority gap. He had nearly 45% of hispanics and 25% of blacks.

He did everything right, and it worked. You're still focusing on how to "keep" power. The Republicans haven't had power since FDR. Their ideas are good, but they are spineless and won't fight for the ideas. Trump teaches them how to win again, and that winning gets the votes.

It's not the women. It's not the kids. They love Trump too. You seem to be concerned that we have to appeal to the hearts. But the hearts are why we fight.

We don't fight because we're technically correct. We fight because of the amazing experiences we have in this country that are made by everyone, including the women and "kids". To deny them the participation would be to deny these reasons they give us to fight.

NerBolanski 1 point ago +1 / -0

keeping power is important because you can use power and authority to change things in your favor. without power and authority, the left won't get half of their stuff done. The left recognizes power for what it is; a means to push your agenda and shape things the way you want. The anti-government demonization by conservatives and libertarians has really cucked a lot of people in the GOP. We were very powerful during the first two years of Trump and Republicans didn't achieve much. Trump did much despite the bad advisers and ducked people that were beside him. if Trump picked personnel loyal to MAGA, we would have done so much better. The media pushes diversity in all white countries; they want to create a multiracial or multicultural dystopia that will destroy all cultures and races. They need to destroy and demotivate whites before they realize their goal. Trump didn't get that much of Blacks and Hispanics. Hispanics were actually 35 % and Blacks 12%. I hate when we try and lie about the Black votes.it is ok for us to realize that we didn't get our target of Black votes. Populism appeals to the heart and needs strength to move on; Trump has shown he has the strength to fight for the American beliefs but our movement can be shaped to something greater. We don't need to be technically correct but we need to have our own supply, politicians, propaganda or stories, etc.

1
Jaunty_Haul [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Why do you want mental children to vote?

1
sordfysh 1 point ago +1 / -0

Because the founding fathers told us that if we put limits on who should be qualified to vote, based on intellectual capacity, we would be ruled by someone like Newton.

The founding fathers were pretty clear that we have a God given right to vote. Not because God made us worthy of voting. But because God has put each and every one of us where we need to be in order to carry on his plan. If you deny the meek a right to vote, then you deny God the right to vote.

Trust that God will guide the hand of his people. You are in good hands if you seek his guidance.

1
Jaunty_Haul [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

So, why not let 15 year olds vote? 12 year olds? All children?

Gimme a fucking break.

1
sordfysh 1 point ago +1 / -0

Because they don't pay taxes yet and are therefore completely beholden to their parents. They are not yet a separate entity from their family.

One person one vote. If you aren't a person yet, no vote.

1
Jaunty_Haul [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

So, you're saying children aren't people. M'kay.

1
sordfysh 1 point ago +1 / -0

Not for societal purposes.

I'd be more than willing to discuss dropping the age of societal adulthood down to 16 for taxation and emancipation purposes, but frankly, we need to set a solid age when children CAN become heads of household.

Franky, 16 is the age generally when someone can be capable of becoming head of household.

1
Jaunty_Haul [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Lame. You give modern kids way too much credit. They are babies and fools.
