I grew up in, and plan to retire to NH. I’m not aware of the Granite State refusing residence to anyone who wanted to call her home. As many POCs as want to live there do just that. 9 months of winter and 3 months of bad weather...it’s not for everyone.
Unfortunately, that problem is getting worse, too. At least in the small town I grew up in, anyway. Industry (the main tax base) has left the building, leaving the burden on the citizens. With no jobs, many citizens fall behind on taxes, property values have tanked, to be scooped up by Mass-holes, who often become landlords to Sec 8 housing. NH (iirc) actually pays pretty decent for welfare, so it attracts from other states and moves them to where housing is cheap but there are few jobs, so heroin has made a comeback.

The crime rates there have skyrocketed since I left in 2006 according to friends and family. Just read the Union Leader and scan all the crimes being committed. Heroin is still a massive problem in NH. Its ranked in the top 5 states in the US still. I've already lost many friends too it. I left in 2006 during the 2nd opium war when it was spiraling out of control.

They've been trying to attach new zoning laws and section 8 housing to every little Federal Grant for the last few years in an effort to move "diversity" into southern New Hampshire. The town that I live in was creating a "gateway to New Hampshire" area. The hitch was, the "free" funds from the Feds, that required the changes that I just mentioned. The citizenry caught on, the Lefties in Town were exposed, and the whole shebang was scrubbed.
And BTW, my neighbor of 20 plus years across the street ...a black man and small business owner was totally against the whole plan too. Obviously, a Clarence Thomas-style racist.

If you ask for sales tax then you’ll get sales tax with no reduced property tax. Just look at CT and how that worked out.
