Most of your enemy are in the cities at the moment - the first phase of the war will be easy. They go out there and terrorise because they know no one will really stop them. You'll go in hard and hundreds of them will be laid out on slabs by the end of the day. Some will go into hiding in large urban populations. Others - the smart ones will scatter into the country and change tactics.
Infrastructure will be a big target of communist insurgents. Power lines, phone masts, gas, water, sewage.
Farms will be targets - they were in the Rhodesian bush war in particular. One of the first attacks by the terrorists in the 1960's was against a farm.
Trucks will also be targets - looting stores in cities will get harder but looting trucks? Just think - isolated out on the road in the early hours of the morning. It will get so bad that travelling on roads will require armed convoys to get though. There will likely be staging areas where you queue up to wait for one.
I'd suggest looking at the Rhodesian bush war if you want to know what it will be like. Lot's of uses of helicopters and parachute troops. Likewise a lot of long foot patrols and observations out in the sticks. Lot's of pseudo-operations. Fighting in your own country will be kind of weird. You will be able to stop off at the pub after a days fighting for steaks and a piss up.
