My school district didn't replace their Environmental Science books fast enough. So when I went to school, the books claimed that the polar ice caps would be melted by 2020 and the sea levels will have risen to cover all of America's coastal cities... Almost all of Florida would be gone. NYC would look like Venice.

The teacher had to explain that the newer edition had "updated science" that explained the effects of global warming are hard to predict and may manifest themselves differently, but would should still that around 2035-2045.

Damn it's gone full circle. It's been a while and it was in California so we were on the cutting edge of BULL SHIT but I remember my teacher reading to us about the Coming Ice Age. Mile thick ice sheets were going to cover the plains states and cause global famine unless we stopped using cars and air conditioning. A decade later they just the flipped the script with no other changes. All Scientists Agree, The Science Is Settled. After a couple decades of zero warming, at all, in fact we had several cold AF winters so they just took a flu virus and it's like The Walking Dead with much better writing.
