I don't think they would've done it because they wouldn't want to risk damaging the economy (that already would've been slower without Trump's deregulation and tax cuts) under a Democratic President. Plus, she already would've been vulnerable (3 straight terms for one part in the Presidency is usually about the limit).
ETA: If it weren't for the coronavirus (and the mail in voting it precipitated), Trump likely would've won re-election (even with the fraud bullshit).
