+1. Never heard of this, this awesome reading about them now. Were they really anti Ukrainian as wiki says or is that some propaganda? I like Russians and Ukies. The Ukies I knew well were Orthodox, the language sounds like Russian, they looked Russian, their culture was pretty much Russian but they wouldn’t be happy if they were called Russian.
It always seemed weird to me that people so close in culture don’t always like each other.

They were anti-Ukrainian separatism. Ukraine is and was always part of Russia. Russia's first capital was Kiev. They regarded Ukrainians as fellow Russians and came to their defense when they could.
