If he declared Martial Law during the work day and the MSM started mis-reporting what's going on (which you know they will). A sizeable number of people would panic and rush home from work and to their daycares and schools. It really could be messy.
But if they go in on Christmas Eve. A great number of people are home and hardly anybody is watching the news. He could swoop in on Christmas Eve and by the time everyone turns the TV back on Christmas afternoon, he would have a huge head start on the situation.
Yeah, only trouble is Governors and Politicians aren't at home anyway. They are the only ones allowed to roam. That's OK though, because if Trump puts warrants out for people it's make it more fun if the were hiding a little when WE come looking for them.
Ya, unfortunately we won't be doing any of that though it would be satisfying.
Arresting the bad guys isn't the problem. It's keeping the media from spreading mass panic by saying the capitol is under attack and things like that. Controlling the panic in a civilian population is legitimate strategic concern in this type of operation.
The arrests will be made by military spec ops units and Federal Law enforcement most likely. Everyone else loses their enforcement powers the minute the EO is in effect (which is might already be since the execution of it is classified)
What we might wind up doing is helping enforce martial law in the communities we already live in. He might send in the National Guard to command and coordinate. The rest of us will be making sure nothing is moving in our communities. That type of operation takes massive numbers of bodies. A lot of people don't know about this but there really is such a thing as the United States Militia and it's every able bodied male ages 17-45 and veterans up to 65.
Keep in mind we've locked down countries and held elections before. We're just going to do it in English this time.
At least that's a theory that makes some actual sense in the real world based on the training and experiences I've had.

I think that's a good thought but I think in reality that might be a little hard to do all at once unless they want to cut the internet entirely. In Iraq we just blew up the ministry of truth or whatever that called it but here you can put news and video out from your basement.
