Israel are the remnant of Yah's people. Not the Jews per say. I am Israel, not Jewish. Remember, Yah divorced Israel for her whoring, yet Judah was just as bad. Yeshua [Jesus] died to redeem Israel and the time for her coming back is now.
From my readings and understandings, Israel are the lost tribes, the ones cast out. Forced to live among the Gentiles until such time as a redemption could bring them back to the Father. Yeshua was that redeemer and anyone who believes in him and follows Yah's perfect Laws are grafted in and become Israel. I am Israel and I have been redeemed in my Father's eyes.
The remnant doesn't happen until after the Gathering. Father has shown me that my path is right for now. All I can do is go where he leads me and I will. Shalom to you and yours.
