All non-essential federal employees will be on furlough (military and essential personnel will be working without pay) starting tomorrow unless Congress approves a continuing budget resolution. Might this explain why President Trump was clearing the federal employees out of DC?

it’s essentially free vacation for them. they will be paid for time off. it’s one of the biggest benefits of being a federal employee

Maybe the non-essential workers, but essential workers (air traffic controllers, etc.) are working for free until a continuing resolution is approved. And either way, federal employees don't get ANY pay until that happens. Last time it was two months.
