I'm also in a blue state that has done this very thing a few years ago. In some states a drivers license triggers auto voter registration. However, In the state I live in the illegals have to tick a check box saying they are aware they cannot vote and swear to it. To register to vote all one needs is a name, address, and drivers license number. There are no ID checks to vote in my state.
I didn't mean to hijack your post. I just share in your pain and frustration and want to give another perspective on this. Once these nonsense laws get passed it is hard to get them un-passed, especially if they remain a law for a long period of time. Driving is a privilege, not a right. This gives privilege to people who break the law (being here illegally) under the guide of "public safety".
