Being from a Blue urban area but having spent a lot of time this year traveling in red states and being in the process of relocating has made me reflect on the two Americas that currently exist and how I think this affects Trump supporters differently based on where they live. My home state of California is decimated it's on a collision course to becoming a third world communist state. I've long since stopped carrying what happens to the general population here but I still care about my family and also there are some areas here where people are genuinely decent and conservative that I've frequented in rural counties. A lot of people in my family who support Trump I think are basically hoping for something like an absolute miracle where Trump wins and then somehow California starts to immediately get better. Personally I think even if Trump wins this may not immediately affect California so I look at it a bit more from the perspective of a red State person now in that I'm not quite as depressed as other people in my family I'm more just filled with energy and anger and ready to start putting my efforts into something positive, I'm mainly depressed at their attitudes and reactions to what's going on and that they're going to keep living in a horrible blue state.
For those of you who are in red States and maybe not freaking out quite as much because you already have established lives in places that are more stable maybe it could be helpful if you thought of ways to reach out to the greater MAGA community in blue states because even States like California have a huge base of trump supporters but they are all depressed, disillusioned, defeated, etc and I think aren't necessarily in a state where they can resist what could be coming as easily. It's just something I've seen personally with family where they seem very defeated but I think there has to be a way for people on the right to unite from across the country and take back the entire continent, I just don't know what it will be but I hope others are here that are good at organizing and figuring things out.
I feel like Texas has turned into a dictatorship.
Abbott had gone way too far thinking he can mandate how many people can eat at a restaurant or close then down completely or mandate masks... Even local county judges and mayors think they can mandate that people stay at home, even in red counties. They may not go quite as far as blue states, but even one step into authoritarianism is too far.
I hate every bit of this crap. I could see things going badly very quickly. I'm surprised I still have a job after being called into my bosses office to talk about mask wearing. I was barely able to even get some things handled at the tax office and had to have them meet me outside to take care of my business there.
And just because local law enforcement offices choose not to enforce a lot of this crap doesn't mean that the leadership hasn't overstepped. The enforcement thing could easily change. If I lived in a blue state, I'm almost positive I'd be in jail now for not wearing a mask or getting within 6ft of another person or something equally as ridiculous. Back in April or May, some areas even had checkpoints set up to make sure people traveling were essential workers. I haven't forgotten that crap even though a lot of people seem to have, either that or they thought it was fine.
As for the presidential election, if Biden gets in, we're all screwed anyway. Being in a red state isn't going to help when they decide to cut off your bank accounts for not being vaccinated or some other stupid reason.
