The old school GOP only exists to defend the interests of a very small and very rich constituency. It's been that way for decades. They don't need to and don't wanted to make any meaningful changes: they trade support for big, Democrat programs in return for being able to preserve low capital gains and corporate taxes (and keep a lid on inheritance taxes). Since they know that the middle class ultimately picks up the tab for socialist giveaways, it doesn't really bother them if this stuff gets passed into law. Their basic motto is "Keep your head down and defend our privileges." In truth, they're no worse off with Biden in the White House and after four years of lukewarm Dem policies they'll go back to offering the hillbillies gun rights and will talk the talk about "Christian values" and figure they'll be able to cobble together enough votes to maintain their position. That's what the average RINO is thinking.
The establishment isn't. Understand they are in league with the Dems, they just slow roll us and throw out words like gun rights and Christian values to keep people interested.
They know even if they are a minority they will still have power and influence which is all they care about.
