they issue you a randomly generated cryptographic keycard separate from your id, that cannot be linked back to your id.
you use this card to activate voting machine that then prints a receipt with crypto key when done. It also posts the vote to a public blockchain with serial num of device, and all vote information, signed with the crypto key on your receipt.
BEFORE you leave the polls, you can verify that your vote exists on blockchain with the key from your phone or other device present.
