Cheaper to get an oral syringe of Durvet. It's applewormer.com i think. Around here, independent farm and feed ranch stores sell them for $5. Enough for a whole horse or 4-6 adults. It's dispensed by weight. About a heaping teaspoon for one adult:

It's fine for humans, people. I've read that if the dog has border collie genes you should not give ivermectin.

Pyrantel Palmoate is another dewormer.

You are paying too much if you're buying the dog/cat version of these things. Cheapest medications are fish, then cattle/sheep/livestock, horses, cats/dogs then humans. But it's all the same meds. Pay attention to dosage.

PP I bought recently for $20. It's enough for over 200 doses using the quantity that's in one dewormer pill for a medium dog.

Since we're on the topic of dewormers, Fenbendazole is absolutely the cheapest and safest pharma dewormer. It's out of patent so no one likes to promote it. They gave up trying to show toxicity with a dose 100x that of what was needed. You'd have to give it multiple times, as it effects the adult lifecycle.

Ivermectin specifically has a side effect that blocks viral replication in certain RNA viruses, including covid. It is not as safe as fen.., it does eventually have toxicity at excessive dosing, but you'd have to miscalculate dosing badly to get in that realm. Pyrantel can be similarly toxic at lower excessive dosages.

Again, only Ivermectin was shown to have that 'one weird side effect' of blocking viral replication.

Another med is Tagamet, cim... generic -look it up- is about $15 for a box to treat a whole family. It down-regulates the cytotoxic reaction of the immune system, and upregulates the helper cell activity. That could be good as an adjunct to someone showing symptoms later-on, to keep the destructive immune flair-up minimized.

Back to dewormers, though: Natural farmers use stuff like diatomaceous earth in the feed as a dewormer. It's also a nutritional supplement. I used to use it in baking, when I still baked, as a way to get a thicker, dryer batter and improve the mineral content. Do not breath it in when handling it, it's not good for your lungs! But it is good nutritionally, and is naturally keto. Germans call it 'healing earth'.

Yeah I just know this stuff and randomly answer forum posts that ask about it because I have nothing better to do.

You could take it once every two weeks as a prophylatic. You could also take hydroxychloroquine, and zinc. Or quercitin and zinc. With vitamin D, NAC, ... I'm probably forgetting something.

Whether it's Hydroxychloroquine or quercitin, both are supposed to help utilization of the zinc, and that's what provides increased immunity.

Vitamin D is interesting, and when I remember, I take 15,000 IU or so (sometimes more, it's in a powder and I no longer bother to weigh it out) daily.

If you do Jiu Jitsu, you're making a mountain out of a molehill. The chances of you getting it at all are minor, and the likely of getting anything beyond mild symptoms, for someone who is fit, is small.

Taking those supplements in those quantities will take care of the 'small'.

The local nerdbody gym (everyone is absolutely ripped) has had a few people get it, if the 30+ replication test is to be believed (it was probably just the flu), and no one had anything severe.

If you described yourself as obese with diabetes, I wouldn't be wasting my time typing.

If you mean 'How much do I injest?' Dose by weight, as I've said 2-3 times now. Sure you haven't been on the receiving end of some headstrikes in JJ?

I've never taken preparations intended for dogs/cats. It's too expensive.

I've either used horse or cattle/sheep preparations. There seems to be a comprehension error here: the medication is the same regardless.

How much do you want to pay and how much red tape do you want?

legally, no. It's legal for animals only. A human, i understand, is a colorable man. A half beast, half man like creature.

It's the same medication, if that is what you are asking.

Get the horse paste.

They are using some of these animal drug formulations in south america to treat covid due to ivermectin shortages

EVMS linked in my comment above says 250micro grams per KG of body weight. Its the same dose rate for horses and do on day 1 and day 3. The earlier the better. The plunger is graduated in 50lb increments ans stamped 250. To describe another way a typical horse will take the whole tube a 250 lb man will take 1/5 or about a teaspoon.

Same with a certain metro hospital in the States. Ivermectin wasn't available through the formulary. Horse paste it was!

Dosing is very key. For instance, horse ivermectin paste, if a dog eats that tube of med (It is flavored and enticing) the too big dose can kill a dog.

I thought it tasted meh. 'Apple flavoured' was a bit of a stretch.

If a 50-75lb dog ate all of a 1100lb horse dose, ... I mean, first of all, dosing by weight is directly on the plunger. You spin a collar to set the dose before you depress it. If you are too dumb to operate it correctly, you have other life issues and are beyond help.

Secondly, I would only be concerned if that was the case, if the dog had border collie genes. Australian Shepherds for instance, do.

Thirdly, don't waste it. One $5 tube should treat monthly for a whole year. Beats paying inflated Hartz prices.

This is exaclty correct on the 1250lb tubes. Each serration on the plunger is 50lbs. 5 per 250 LB stamp. One $5 tube can treat over three 200lb persons twice. Dose 1 immediately and again on day 3 according to EVMS covid care instructions linked above.

Dogs chewing on a tube of horse wormer that died most likely were consuming all of it, since chewing the tube would mess up the dose-measuring dial-ring you mention.

The Ivermectin is safe unless you are a child under 33 lb, an unborn baby, or at least certain herding dog (Collies, Australian Shepherds, Shetland Sheepdogs, Old English Sheepdogs, and English Sheepdogs).

I would not take Pyrantel without doing some serious research, unless it was my only option in an emergency.
