DCA (Regan Airport) is in Arlington, VA. DUL (Dulles) is about a 30-40 minute drive to DC proper BWI (Baltimore / Washington Airport) is in Glen Bernie MD, and is about an hours drive south. I grew up in the DC area and know it well. Live in Southern CA now, but still have a lot of family in the area.
Arlington, Crystal City, Alexandria are all just outside of DC (on VA side) and would be good places to stay as well, outside the city.
Be advised, traveling with firearms varies from carrier to carrier. Each carrier has their own rules for what they want done listed on their websites. Long guns in hard cases (required for travel)will attract attention in hotel lobbies. Not advocating for or against, just something to consider.
