Guys, this isn't some LARP. This is a classic case of a political power struggle and it has happened around the world many times. You have to show your enemies you have the power. Power is all about fear, if they have no fear of you, you lose.

Trump is showing he can call on his supporters whenever he needs them to do whatever is necessary. This is how the power struggle behind closed doors is won. People must fear Trump and the people he commands more than they fear the establishment.

Even if you can't make it on the 6th, don't question his motives. Show your full support so the message gets out. We're getting to the end game and this is not a LARP.

Suggestion: I think people should also plan on flying into the surrounding areas in case it’s too congested to get in. This way worst case you can haul ass in other ways to get there

Put this in a post please.

The communist airlines are not our allies. It's in their power to really mess this up. Imagine the effect of mass cancellations on the 5th.

You can fly into Philly and take a megabus for $5-10 (price depends on daytime and date) into DC.

Or fly to JFK, EWR or LGA and take Amtrak from NYP station in Manhattan.

I am in PA and familiar with connections like this. Ask me if you need advice.

DC hotels are pricy and likely booked, but you can take the Metro (light rail) into Northern Virginia, like Alexandria. There are plenty of cheaper hotels in walking distance from the train station (Amtrak and Metro use same station).

From the south you can take Amtrak and get off Alexandria, go to your hotel, settle and walk back to the station, now taking the metro to DC. Costs around $3-4 per person, takes like 15-20 min.

Another alternative is to stay in Baltimore, but that's tricky if you don't know the safe areas. Alexandria is much safer.

Or Arlington.

The bus trip from Philly is like 2 or 3 hours, so that may be too far to go back to on the same night. And the buses don't go hourly, so you might not get back.

But in case they are cancelling flights into DC on Jan 4-6, it would make sense to fly into Philly and take either Amtrak or Megabus to DC.

I hear you need to take a covid test to fly into Pennsylvania these days.

"By Order issued November 17, 2020, the Wolf administration is requiring that travelers entering Pennsylvania from other countries and states, as well as Pennsylvanians who are returning home from other countries or states, have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to entering the Commonwealth or quarantine for 10 days upon entry into Pennsylvania. If a traveler chooses to get tested upon entering the Commonwealth, or is waiting for test results, the traveler must quarantine for 10 days, or until receipt of a negative test result, whichever comes first."

I guess you can say you're going to quarantine instead to get around it.

Last time I checked it wasn't enforced. You can either show a Covid Test or quarantine yourself for 14 days. But that's an Honor System. AND if you are just having a layover in PA, they don't care.

We need a thread to help first timers with the logistics of getting there. Where are the good outside areas to stay where we can Marta in for example.
