Unless I'm reading it wrong, open carry is illegal and while concealed carry is permitted, it's only if you have a CCL from DC and no other CCL is honored.

Check the laws again. You can carry a gun in your trunk if it's unloaded and not a handgun. All strict MD laws appear to only apply to handguns.

FOPA (Firearms Owner Protection Act) protects you from state gun laws when traveling. You can have whatever federally legal gun you want as long as it is stored properly (locked case in the trunk) and you don't stay in a hostile state more than one night.
Cops also have no power to search your vehicle without probable cause. If they ask to search your vehicle, politely tell them to eat a fucking dick and pound sand.
FOPA only protects you on a direct trip to an approved destination/event, it is NOT going to allow you to stay overnight in a gun grabber state. It's even a grey area whether or not stopping for food is protected.
If you get pulled over and one thing leads to another where the cop finds guns, the last thing I want to try to explain to them is my FOPA protections in a state which is extremely hostile to guns to begin with. Whether I'm right or wrong I'm still probably spending the night in jail.
If you are using FOPA, try to make as little stops and keep direct on your path of travel as possible to avoid these grey areas. As we all know, a gun grabber state cop will not look favorably in our direction in the event of a grey area in the law. They don't even do that when the law is 100% clear.
To add: none of FOPA matters anyway in this case. You need a legal destination for it to protect you. I don't think armed protest in DC counts. Best to just stash them as you see fit, keep a low profile, and don't get pulled over if you're planning to pack heat.

Now is the time we get literally millions of men with guns to publicly defy authorities in these states and literally dare them to “come take them”. They won’t, they want to go home to their families at night- trying to disarm an angry ocean of patriots that have finally had enough of the corrupt system they are protect is a good way to not make it home to the wife and kids. Yeah, there is no open carry and very limited conceal carry in MD and DC especially. Knives, etc. are “legal,” but no switchblades or anything spring loaded and you can’t have intent to commit any crimes...
