They might not be taking new members in your area. I am in process in a different part of my state because my local isnt vetting new people. I was lucky enough to have a member point me in the right direction.

We don't recruit at events, at least my chapter has never. It's hard to fully trust a fellow pede at a public event (How they'd handle themselves in the event of a conflict, over react - scream racist bullshit) unless you've hung out with them and had a few beers bullshitting.
