I think Goth found its way again once Emo came along and sucked out all of the boring trads that were diluting Goth to begin with. Certainly a lot of what was being passed of as Goth was more Emo (muh gatekeeping), but it's still possible to carry the Goth look well now (I know an early-20's Zoomer who is about 90% Goth, 10% Emo, and she wears the look extremely well).

I do very much enjoy She Past Away, a lot derivative but done so well it's just right.

There are plenty of punks w coloured hair who are staunchly anti communist. Of course the left started stealing it as a trend and so there ya go. Some then went natural but some still color hair. It’s more about the posture. Look for proud and fit vs head forward and mushy.
Don't goths just dye their hair black? I don't think I've ever seen a pink or purple kool-aid hair and think they're a goth.

Goth was really an 80s and early 90s phenomenon for me. I remember first running into emos in the early 2000s and not being impressed.
Now you have all the cybergoths and etc. Can't really judge them, I had my own subculture thing going on in my youth but still...

Fucking sub-culture wars. Go back to the mods and rockers. Hell, even Mozart and Salieri probably counted as a sub-culture war.
Real Goths don't seem to care what others think. They seem to be closer aligned to the punk scene in that way.
