Well, you are absolutely correct when you are referring to communism as utopia. Communism in its core is against human nature. In USSR they were trying to make us into a "Soviet Men," as in, a new human that would be satisfied by ideals and ideas alone, that is how far from human nature communism is.
Human nature is the opposite of communism. We’re wired to try and compete with and be better than others. Communism cannot work with anything other than robots.
Moreover, when a commie tells you something about "private property," you can give them an example of how natural ownership of property is, by pointing to a child who says "mine." A child who says "mine," at mere 2 years of age, is affirming and recognizing ownership of property at an instinctual level at a youngest age. Capitalism is much more in tune with human nature than any other system.
Captalism is a bullshit marxist term, it's not an ism and an idealogy, it's just what happens in a free market. Capitalism litterally just means freedom.
Kinda, humanity is more "tribal" than anything. "Small" factions that take care of each other, typically. Tribes will even cooperate with others to advance their availability to resources, while sabotaging others. This grew exponentially when people became agricultural societies. But there most definitely is a hierarchy from the individual human, to the masses. The needs of the one, the needs of the few, the needs of the many. Specifically in that order. Why communism always fails is because that hardwired dynamic never goes away. People are domesticated cattle, for the most part. Someone always has to be at the top, and that clashes with many people's ambitions. That's why communism is always installed by sociopathic narcissistic megalomaniacs. To wield absolute power over a batch of resources. Problem is, that person on top isn't bartering between tribes or powers that be any more, the people on top are fucking retarded and disconnected from reality, then the systematic failure of the system takes hold. Famine and shortages become rampant. To maintain power, the people at the top become more ruthless in ruling by fear. No solutions are allowed to trickle in, it just collapses under its own weight. Some faster than others, but the end result is always the same. Totalitarian dictatorship and mass dying by their hand, because economies were never designed to be part of a single provider system, like a prison. So the prison becomes more sophisticated or it loses control, eventually. The endless waltz of war, peace, and revolution.
We are programmed to work in our own self interest. No one wants to be a slave working for someone else's benefit. Most just stop working and caring. So you end up with a nation of broken and starving people. Like half the people in china and most of the people in venezuela or Cuba.
a new human that would be satisfied by ideals and ideas alone
Almost as problematic, in my view, are the libertarians who don’t give a shit whether porn and drugs flood your suburb, as long as some ideal fantasy exists where that doesn’t necessarily happen.
I'd be fine with Communists playing out their fantasies on their own land. You can have a commune of like minded idiots who don't believe in property all living together and leaving the rest of us alone.
Once they realize how ridiculous such a system is, they'll either give it up or admit they are totalitarians who think "real communism" can only work when the entire world has submitted. Then we can throw them out off the helicopters for being a danger to freedom.
What's unfortunate to me though is that (at least in our community) there is a blindness to this also being true about libertarianism. It is a utopian dream, naïve of reality. Just like communism. If totalitarianism is the middle step to communism - which it never progresses past - then anarchy is the middle step to libertarianism, which it never progresses past.
Despots are happy with both anarchy and a sweep towards communism. They are happy to take over in both scenarios.
Communism is just a fantasy. The logic behind the transition is just purely stupid. There is nothing intelligent about beside the approach to make irrationality and stupidity seem "smart."

Communist "social cohesion" is an ersatz mockery of it where the cohesion is enforced, and individual goodwill is replaced by resentment, jealousy, and fear.

Social cohesion is important, vitally important, but it is a side-effect of a successful capitalist system, so there isn't a need to enforce it. I go to the local deli, the owner knows my order, we exchange brief pleasantries. I pay in cash, he never bothers to check it for counterfeit, he knows I'm good for it. If it is a hot day out, he'll give me a bottle of water for free, because we've built up a long-term successful customer-owner business relationship.
If his business (or he) needed help, I'd probably offer some, because of that built up relation. Likewise, I know for a fact he gives away free food to those who suddenly become destitute and seek aid.
In a capitalist system, social cohesion forms over time by successful interactions between persons. In a communist system, there is no individuals, no persons to have interactions with, only you, and The Party. And so they must mandate by law social cohesion, because there is no natural flow to it occurring on its own.
Great explanation. Organic vs. enforced exchange of property and goods. It’s like the people that try to use Jesus to advertise socialism - “Jesus gave to the poor and said to love they neighbor”.. yeah but he didn’t force others to do it, he suggests that it is the right thing to do - help others in need - which as humans we are free to choose thr extent and manner in which we engage that philosophy

THIS. This happens so much. When I tell liberals about my experiences back in Eastern Europe when I was little they're like "but ackshually communism can work if"
Fuck you, reddit. My grandpa and great grandpa stood in line 4am-4pm for one chicken.
I dunno, I think it could work with 10-20 people involved where the work could be obviously divided out. Any more than that and wouldn't be able to tell who wasn't pulling their share and too much risk of a boss appearing.
They tried this already in America at our very first settlement Jamestown, it was outside of the bitter cold winter killed off a lot of it’s original settlers. John Smiths journal/diary aktually showed how communism failed and a free market is what saved them.
Never once was this book mentioned while I was in schools, and that was decades ago. I had to go out and read the book because I kept hearing about it from other people.
Same with other essential food and items, my mum worked in a grocery store back in the mid 70s early 80s and to have bread or cooked ham you would have to be there early to get some or have a friend who can put some aside for you to come and buy it later. Most people grew their own veggies and had their own farm animals like cows for milk, or their neighbours had them and they would swap items.
Either people who are just now discovering Reddit, or leftists making "alt-right" accounts so they can rack up more karma and awards as their legit accounts "totally nail that neo-nazi comment."
Peeps don't realize how many kids are on that site. I think I got most turned off from it when I realized how many people are in r/teenagers and I was probably arguing with someone who knows nothing about life besides videogames and porn.
Argument: Communism hasn’t worked because it’s never been implemented properly!
Well if we’re still at a point in time where it hasn’t been implemented properly then perhaps it just doesn’t work. How many communism do overs would they like?
The sad part is there are probably many who lived under communism who were starving, suffering and abused by the military; but either believed that their glorious leader would save them any day now; or worse, that things were just fine and had no concept of individualism or freedom.
Communism, at its core, requires the theft of equal lives as those it "supports". Either in the form of stolen wealth slowly diminished and exhausted, or sustainably in the form of a massive slave caste that doesn't count as "people". With modern tech, if you were to un-person about half the population and make them beasts of burden via repeated harsh torture, physical and mental, you'd be able to sustain communism. If you're willing to make two-thirds of people no longer people, you could probably even get to a state where you could advance.
Or, you could have capitalism, where there are many serfs, but no slaves, and can advance while everyone is free. Where obesity is considered a poor person problem, too much food and no money to afford a gym where you can waste energy for no production, just to burn off calories.
I'm so glad that the word tankies is coming back. It's always been one of my favorites, with a perfect history, and it makes the authoritarian left so angry.
I replied below, but I'll add more to what I wrote there.
Back when the sheer level of Stalinist atrocities started to be reported upon, there were a lot of idealistic lefties in the UK that were horrified and denounced it. And there were also many that doubled down, wrote and distributed apologetics on its behalf, and supported it even more the more brutal the tactics were.
As one example, the major historian Eric Hobsbawm, when asked decades later, if the deaths and enslavement of millions would have been worth it, said "yes," without hesitation. In his narrative, hundreds of millions killed and enslaved, and all the totalitarian measures, were worth it, because communism was the ideology that stood in the way of fascism. So you can draw a direct line from that way of thinking to the delusion and violence of antifa.
There's also a line that can be drawn between the writers like that, and today's writers like those at the Grayzone, who have used the status they gained from their good reporting on Syria, and their audience's legitimate distrust of US intel agencies and foreign policy, to peddle obvious CCP propaganda, right down to the denial of labor camps and repression.
Many lefties know this history, and so drawing attention to their similarities to the last group of commies who, from the comfort of their capitalist societies, justified and promoted other countries' labor camps, mass extermination, and state repression, makes them incandescent with rage.
It was originally used to insultingly describe the communists in the UK who defended Stalinist atrocities and state repression in the name of their ideology. It's now simultaneously old fashioned, and more applicable than it ever has been since the 50s or 60s, when it first started to be used.
Imagine talking to 4chan bros and not being able to call them a faggot, what’s the point then? You’re exactly right, it was the canary to know how cucked all of our old hangouts are now
I wasn't issued feelings when I joined the military. Someone like you, though, probably would find a welcoming set of arms and a shared bunk in the Navy.
No. That's not right. WSB has to be a .lose, or a .yolo. Anything but a .win. They wouldn't know what to do with .win. They don't understand what the word means.
I moved to Czech Republic 5 years ago. As an outside observer I'm of the opinion that communism is so detrimental to a society that it has major, lasting consequences that aren't good for anyone. This country was very well treated when it was a part of the Eastern Bloc, and still they are very far behind economically and socially when compared to neighboring countries that were not a part of the Eastern Bloc. The interesting part for me is that they have been out of communism for almost as long as they were under communism, and yet they're having a hard time flourishing here because of the lasting impact. I'm glad I get to see it all from the inside, but I wouldn't wish such a thing on any country.
NATO and the US fucked the Czechs when they told the Czechs that if they rose up against their communist overload that they would receive aid. So the Czechs rose up, and the US/NATO didn’t lift a finger. Thousands died.
It largely depends where you have been offered this job. There are two cities which are worthy of living in - Prague and Brno. In Prague, there are good jobs for expats in many fields from banking, research to IT jobs. Brno is great for IT workers. The rest of the country kinda sucks and is less developed with some less friendly (maybe open-minded would be a better word) people.
The main problem is in people's heads, we have many older people who remember the good old days when they were young and forgot how terrible it was here during communism. The second problem is with infrastructure, we have 10 times fewer highways per area than Germany and strict European legislature is blocking construction of new infrastructure. There is also a huge wage gap between Germany and Czechia when people in Czechia generally tend to have significantly lower wages for the same job. This means that the same people have less money to invest in themselves and places when they live.
The Czech Republic is still a pretty good place to live, we have beautiful nature, good restaurants, many historical monuments to visit. We have a great level of healthcare and also of sanitation. You can find groceries of great quality in most of the shops.
But man, we are never going to get to the living standard of Germany for the whole population even though before the 2nd world war we were doing far better then they do. Luckily we are not a communist shithole as we used to be 30 years ago and have chances to individually work for our better future.
It depends on what you mean by developed and well off. Their salaries are awful for European standards, but can be okay for CR standards. As an engineer/project manager, I was making over 8k USD a month before taxes in previous jobs. The most I could dream about here is 3k-3.5k USD a month, which is amazing by CR standards but as soon as I step foot outside of CR in the western direction, I'll feel it. As far as everything else, infrastructure, shopping, government, school systems, etc, they're on par with Germany. If you have a starting salary and you think it will work for what you want to do, it could be worth it. It all depends on where you're coming from and what your goals are.
Socially, it's another universe. Younger (<30) Czech people are a little more in tune with the world around them, sometimes speak a second language, and aren't so rigid with their thinking. The older Czechs are often difficult to work with and are very rigid with rules and regulations as they understand them. Once you understand how they operate, it can be pretty easy to get what you want as long as you do exactly what these others think they need you to do. I've also had instances where they make decisions that have an adverse effect on others in the office or at work and have absolutely no benefit to anyone. They think they're working in everyone's best interest but usually shield themselves from criticism, so they have no idea that they make bad choices.
*This is all from the perspective of living in Prague. I haven't lived anywhere else in CR
Just got in an argument with my one lefty friend. It was because I posted examples of the media gaslighting. The example was “Richard grenell first openly gay cabinet level position “ vs “buttitgieg first openly gay cabinet member!”
His argument: ACKSHULY grenell wasn’t a cabinet member, he was a cabinet level position. Also he ACKSHULY was only acting and NEVER CONFIRMED.
My response was a more sophisticated “motherfucker how the hell does that make a difference when media are running headlines like this? Average person isn’t going to nitpick that fine detail and it doesn’t really matter”
I don’t disagree with that at all. Actually I think it’s taking away from someone’s accomplishments to always throw in skin color or sexual orientation. People are more than these things.
immigrated to US from Poland, we know fascists and communism all to well, and what's that like to live through. Poles will not stand down to these communism pushers.
I want to believe I'm thick skinned; but when someone suffered through and lost family to communism, and someone else tells them "that wasn't real communism," or worse, "you're a liar"...it really does make me want to slap a plate of tendies onto the floor!
They're also dumb/naive that they think THEY will be the ones in power pressing the boot on the anti revolutionaries. No, they'll be killed because socialist revolutions always turns into dictatorships due to the power vacuum and ideologues need to be purged.
I saw a guy debating on YouTube comments with someone about how Stalin wasn't really that bad and helped modernize Russia. When the other guy started pointing out all the famines and massacres Uncle Joe caused, the commie broke his disguise and admitted that those deaths are meaningless numbers. You have to break a few eggs to make an omelette. The sacrifice was necessary to form a perfect society.
I "love" when people who fled Cuba are like "Here's all the ways living under a communist regime was terrible" and some cushy upper-middle class twat is like "Um, actually, I vacationed there and it was lovely and my tour guide was horrified when I told her about our healthcare."
My (late) grandmother came from Yugoslavia, and told me this. She was based, and took no shit, just FYI.
When she was born, society was three-tiered. You had the dirt (and I mean dirt poor), the people who owned farms and did OK, (her family), and the obscenely rich. There was also constant racial shit from the nationalists and ruling class (Croatian, Bosnian, Serbian).
For the most part, everyone wanted to get along, as there was, and is, a ton of intermarriage. When WWII came along, the choice was (quite literally): Support the Nazis, and be erased, or the Yugoslav Partisans (Tito) and have a future.
Of course, my family served with honour, and chose the latter - holding their nose against Communism's stench.
The reason why Communism was implemented was because of the extreme wealth disparity: The Church and the elite loved to rub it in people's faces. There was virtually no chance to make it big, to self-improve, which was a huge factor as to why Communism came along there.
Communism at least gave people something: A good job, education, reading and writing (a lot of people were illiterate back then), and women were able to advance.
That said, even Tito knew pure Communism didn't work, workers owned the factories among themselves, and there were private businesses alongside State ones. We even built our own military jets (E.g. the Orao/Eagle). We were also non-aligned, politically.
My grandmother always said: Communism gave me a platform to better myself, but capitalism is always better, by far. Never be sucked in by those saying Communism. Sage words from a woman who witnessed unspeakable atrocities, and had the SS "pay a visit" one day.
Needless to say, the SS fared second best.
Grandma's Life Lessons: Be Based, Be Capitalist, And tell that Commie scum where they belong.
My ex immigrated to America when she was a baby and she's all in on the left's communist bullshit, citing internet articles and not even listening to her dad explain that it's literally why they fled to America.
"Communism" is simply a means of achieving a Revolution, and Revolution is the means (or at least one of the principle means in many instances) by which certain people seize control of a nation and turn the remaining people into their slaves. It is true that "real Communism has never been tried", and that is because the real instigators don't give a shit about "real Communism", nor about the people who eat up their made-up ideology.
I had someone tell me that I wasn’t allowed to record them in public while they were protesting on public property because I didn’t have their consent.
I cited the US Constitution and the State Constitution.
They cited the auto-quote from a Google search that didn’t even support their claim even IN THE QUOTE.
They threatened me and I laughed at them then they left me alone. Not only did they not make their own argument, they didn’t try to support the one they presented.
It’s not even that the people who do this are necessarily idiots, it’s that critical (not the fucked critical theory kind) thinking doesn’t seem to exist anymore.
"Hey, dude... these same tactics were used by these same people in my country, and that ended in food lines and state actors killing people who looked at them funny."

What you're describing- essentially alluding to the dream that lefties believe communism to be, is more aptly described as a Utopia.
Communism has been faithfully implemented many times, as that is its goal- a small ruling with everyone else being "equal"...ie poor and oppressed.
Well, you are absolutely correct when you are referring to communism as utopia. Communism in its core is against human nature. Fuck you, reddit. My grandpa and great grandpa stood in line 4am-4pm for one chicken.
Honestly I bet communism could work. If humans weren’t involved.
It's pretty simple. If you can just take what you want from the stores and larder why work harder. You'll let others do all the work.
Communism is ideal in a survivor island situation. Not for running a real country though.
Wasn't there a book about this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_of_the_Flies
Lol, was required reading in my generation. I guess they burned them all these days
Never once was this book mentioned while I was in schools, and that was decades ago. I had to go out and read the book because I kept hearing about it from other people.
I only watched the movie after Seinfeld referenced it.
This book is less a commentary on economic systems than a commentary on human nature, and honestly not a very accurate one at that.
I’m not about to rehash my school essay on the book so let’s not go after me based on a very general assessment, ok pedes? I have guns to grease
It wouldnt even work then.
Iain M. Banks' Culture series unpacks this idea. AI-driven starships essentially run everything in a post-scarcity society.
Incredible books, if you like sci-fi.
I recommend starting with Matter.
Wasn't he a raging lefty?
When I tell people that I've been in ACKHUAL bread lines, they don't believe me.
“Acshuwally, my circlejerk blog posts educate me more on the subject than your experience and living through it”
Same with other essential food and items, my mum worked in a grocery store back in the mid 70s early 80s and to have bread or cooked ham you would have to be there early to get some or have a friend who can put some aside for you to come and buy it later. Most people grew their own veggies and had their own farm animals like cows for milk, or their neighbours had them and they would swap items.
They did the same to a holocaust survivor who said she supports Trump and that he isn't LiTeRaLlY hItLeR!
Reddit is asshole
That one was the worst. They were insisting that America under Trump was worse than what she went through.
I have yet to see a dumber comment in my decades of internet usage.
Oh god, I'm so glad I missed that. That sounds infuriating.
link?
Lmao bunch of retards over there, who are they arguing against now that everyone left or got banned, bots vs bots?
Noone. They're all just agreeing with eachother that we're fascists for promoting things like freedom and fairness
Pretty much. Not too many digital soldiers on Reddit anymore. There are some but no many.
Either people who are just now discovering Reddit, or leftists making "alt-right" accounts so they can rack up more karma and awards as their legit accounts "totally nail that neo-nazi comment."
Now they just suck each other off to see who can virtue signal the loudest.
They still ostracize wrongthink; only the parameters of wrongthink have tightened.
I know of Chinese people like this. Brainwashing is crazy powerful and effective.
The inverse also exists though. Very vocal anti-communist Chinese who got redpilled the hard way.
I like to remind people that socialism "worked" in Venezuela after 2004 as well. It always works while you have the resources you initially stole.
It's when you run out and there's no more people producing wealth that everything goes to shit.
I like asking them "If it's never been implemented properly how do you know it works?"
They would like all the do overs.
Spez is still a cannibal faggot cuck pedophile.
Tankies are actually fucking retards.
I'm so glad that the word tankies is coming back. It's always been one of my favorites, with a perfect history, and it makes the authoritarian left so angry.
Eli5?
Many lefties know this history, and so drawing attention to their similarities to the last group of commies who, from the comfort of their capitalist societies, justified and promoted other countries' labor camps, mass extermination, and state repression, makes them incandescent with rage.
i have no clue but my instinct is it's reference tiananmen square massacre
tankies = chicom agents
Nah, it's more like communism atrocity apologist.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tankie
Top result when I googled tank or.
Explain tankie?
It was originally used to insultingly describe the communists in the UK who defended Stalinist atrocities and state repression in the name of their ideology. It's now simultaneously old fashioned, and more applicable than it ever has been since the 50s or 60s, when it first started to be used.
Every society has a percentage of people in the extreme low IQ band. In the US that manifests as tankies.
They treat the Latinos so badly!!!!!!!!!
And are then shocked those that left these systems in central and South America are adamant Trump supporters.
Those damn white supremest Latinos! How dare they??
Didn't you here the leaked CNN tape? Latinos are just attracted to bullies
You're a good little minority until you choose not to vote the same way.
Then you're literally a brownshirt or white supremacist or something.
Yep! Lmao they say minorities are kkk enthusiasts it’s hilarious
It’s Latinx, bigot!
You should see how neutered the Chan subs are now, the mods are removing comments that have the word faggot in them
That was the canary
Imagine talking to 4chan bros and not being able to call them a faggot, what’s the point then? You’re exactly right, it was the canary to know how cucked all of our old hangouts are now
It's okay, we know you're still a faggot. Even if we can't say it, know deep in your heart that we all know you're a faggot.
I wasn't issued feelings when I joined the military. Someone like you, though, probably would find a welcoming set of arms and a shared bunk in the Navy.
I've never understood the comradery around calling your peers faggots.
They should have called each other ni... if they wanted to freak out the normies.
Actually we went to 8chan first (rip)
Can't wait until wallstreetbets becomes a .win
No. That's not right. WSB has to be a .lose, or a .yolo. Anything but a .win. They wouldn't know what to do with .win. They don't understand what the word means.
Lol this is true but they could ironically be .win
Thousands died.
it's abuse of people on the highest scale and the effects ripple through generations
He’s not talking to me right now.
Also just because someone is gay, colored or whatever doesn't make them special.
The only people driving a divide in our society is the left, by forcibly categorizing human beings.
"EVERYONE MUST ACKNOWLEDGE AND RESPECT LIVED EXPERIENCE!"
"NO, NOT LIKE THAT!!!"
The Serbian is mostly right, but the overthrow of Milosevic was initiated by the West (let‘s call it the CIA for clarification).
Fuck reddit
🤷 Hm? I try to keep up, but God damn, what is this?
THIS is what Trump’s been fighting all along...
THIS is what the Serb was referring to...
https://thedonald.win/p/11R4q1Rtbd/--get-in-here-pedes-cyber-firms-/
And you thought Alex Jones was just spewing nonsense.
I want to believe I'm thick skinned; but when someone suffered through and lost family to communism, and someone else tells them "that wasn't real communism," or worse, "you're a liar"...it really does make me want to slap a plate of tendies onto the floor!
Tankies?
TY
aka the really dumb ones that don't know that they need to keep that part silent.
Even AOC has just enough IQ to know that you pretend to be compassionate until you have power, then you start jackbooting people.
I lived in Ukraine for 2 years... it’s a total shit hole
PCM has joined.
We are replacing reddit! 🤣
Just read Orwell's "Animal Farm".
I "love" when people who fled Cuba are like "Here's all the ways living under a communist regime was terrible" and some cushy upper-middle class twat is like "Um, actually, I vacationed there and it was lovely and my tour guide was horrified when I told her about our healthcare."
I have a friend who grew up in Communist Romania, he honestly cannot believe how stupid leftists here are.
You know, it's interesting.
Some of us get off arguing with morons lmao.
Le Reddit. Nowhere in the universe will you find a more wretched hive of scum and midwittery.
Tankies?
Tankies?
My ex immigrated to America when she was a baby and she's all in on the left's communist bullshit, citing internet articles and not even listening to her dad explain that it's literally why they fled to America.
I love polcomp memes!
Tankies are fucking dunces who have never cracked open a book about economics in their lives.
“Do you like roads, EMS, and fire departments?” They ask, as though those are exclusively inventions of socialism.
What’s a tankie?
A Stalinist.
What’s a tankie?
I see this happen way too frequently.
Well. Let’s do this
Best post is best
Tankies and NazBols can go eat shit!
"Soviet Communism was long time ago, our Communism is meant for modern day" - NPC argument on Communism.
Ok, wutz uh ‘tankie’ ?
I don’t care if it’s on TheDonald. I don’t want to see anything generic wojak ever again.
Tankies ganna tank....
Communism is just Dictatorship disguised as a Populist decree
LOL, this is my fucking experience every time.
"Hey, dude... these same tactics were used by these same people in my country, and that ended in food lines and state actors killing people who looked at them funny."
"UHM, SHUT UP DRUMFPF SUPPORTER!"
plebbit..... where most people arent old enough to vote.....
Lol. This is art.
