I think that was the plan for Clinton, she would attack NK, China their ally would jump in, Russia would as China's ally, short nasty war, Clinton surrenders.

China/Russia/UN occupies US, Clinton Regent for life, the end of the US. Russia would have known of that plan and would have been violently opposed to it. So yes, they may have put their thumb on the scales for Trump.
