Well:

  1. The guy is a loser, no question.

  2. But it was his property, and it's only his right to do anything with it, no matter what it was.

  3. You could argue that his parents didn't want it in their house in the first place. But they could sort it out different way, by simply moving it from the house/sending all of it back and demand refund for shipment. Destroying it wasn't neccessary.

  4. While his parents are right about all of this, dude is free to act his own way, even if it's wrong way.
