It's gonna be cold anyway, so maybe even consider padding more than just your arms. If enough pedes show up, I don't even think the Marxists will be a problem, except maybe hiding at the outer edges hoping to find a straggler. But better to be prepared.

First of all, that's not true. A standard, utilitarian type knife is fine. Second, there will be "counter-protestors", and they will be armed with all sorts of things. You're better off being able to defend yourself and answer for it later if you have to.
