You don't need to lead the caravan, only organize. Leaders get picked out at the first meeting or en route. Once the ball gets rolling, strong leaders naturally come out of the woodwork ready to take charge. Getting people there to begin with is what's important. Any of us memespammers can do that.
My friend and I are planning to get a bus to take folks up to DC. We went to the first Million MAGA March and it was amazing. I’m hoping to bring at least 20 more people this time.

Especially with all of the snow storms that could come in. Southern path is always the way to go.
Not a trucker, but have driven across the country several times. So fun to do! We have a beautiful country, but it is hard to really appreciate the size and beauty of it, if you don't make a point to actually see it.

The sunrises are always my favorite. There was one over Albuquerque that was particularly stunning. And I always try to avoid Flagstaff over the winter. Blizzards through there are no joke!

Agreed! I may not come from as far north, but I come from a snowy mountain town, so I'm all too familiar with winter weather driving. In this one particular instance, the storm dumped 3-4ft in 5 hours. Impressive.
Flagstaff is so gorgeous though. And the Petro down the mountain has some seriously good green chili pork. Fun fact on the side my username for pretty much everything online is Raptor Attack because I too love velociraptors.

Southern Oregon Pede here. I live in a motorhome and for medical reasons can't leave it. I have room for maybe 3-4 more people, depending on whether they're coupled / willing to sleep together.
I would go if 3-4 people want to go, and can pay for gas and RV parks.
P.S. Masks will NOT be required inside my motorhome.

Wintertime cross country driving can be a hassle if the weather doesn't cooperate. Take a longer look at the southern route. Aside from the better weather and less ice, You don't have to traverse Illinois & Pennsylvania going via route 10, 20 & 30. Texas is friendlier territory, plus everything is less expensive across the south route, gas in Texas is gonna be $1.50 /gallon less than Illinois. I like the north route in the summer for the increased daylight, but in the winter the south wins in that respect too. If you do end up having to drive though Illinois, gas up in Iowa before you cross the border and don't stop anywhere until you've made it to Indiana.
My understanding is to not stop in Gary, either.
Yeah, I have no idea why someone would be that far north in Illinois for a Cali to DC drive anyway, unless they were trying to avoid East St. Louis.
I live in Southern California, and even down here a slight variation in the beginning is the difference between taking the 10 or the 40 across the country, which end up very far apart.
Up there the issue is the Sierra Nevadas, they either go on I80 through Reno, or drive many hours south down to Bakersfield so they can start heading east to eventually get to the 40.
Last time I did that trip I went past Mono Lake on my way from San Jose to Las Vegas, I must've been doing it wrong.
Taking smaller roads to the 395 or whatever and working your way down to Vegas might be a faster way south than the Bakersfield route, unless snow or something causes issues.
Or maybe not, you can fly on the 5, and it still is somewhat angled south east.
I'm not a trucker, and am based in Southern California, so I don't know the optimal Northern California routes to places, I was just guessing why Google was sending him through Chicago.

Here's a tip for my ground-based pedes. Get your physician to prescribe you alprazolam. Take a few micrograms about 30 mins prior to boarding. You won't remember the next few hours.

Southern route I-40 to 44 might keep you out of winter weather
Make sure to keep your gas topped up through Nevada and Utah. Drove the I-70 from DC to Vegas before, and there was a stretch in Utah with literally nothing for 150+ miles. All federal land and all desert. The restroom at a rest stop was a latrine.
It looks like you are taking a different interstate than I did so I am not sure if you will encounter this, just be aware it is possible. Don't get stranded out there. You will have a very bad time

Plan a different route where you go across North America at a southern lattitude. You'd do much better planning on taking I-10 east and then cutting up north once you get to the east coast.
