I'd listen to what terrapin11 said. Planning to take I-80 across North America in January is such a bad idea it makes me question your intelligence. Plan a different route where you go across North America at a southern lattitude. You'd do much better planning on taking I-10 east and then cutting up north once you get to the east coast.
I’d consider going the southern route in the winter. I’ve made this mistake before and got stuck in Denver.
