Anybody with a router is likely setting up, or already has set up intelligence gathering tools.
As demonstrated in CHAZ, some clever folks set up free WIFI points around the area and snared quite a few ANTIFA/BLM/JBGC. They created a map of who was communicating with who.
OPSEC dictates probably the best strategy is to leave your phone at home, but nothing is perfect.
I would also take the time to encrypt your phone contents and set up an actual password, not face unlock or fingerprint. If you get picked up by LEO, remember your right to not self incriminate, enumerated in the Fifth Amendment.
Food and water would be essential items to bring with you, bring plenty for yourself and some to share if you want. A small first aid kit wouldn't be a horrible idea either.
Stay together, make plans and backup plans and rally points if you get separated from your group.

We need to get smarter about this phone shit. It's trivial to query a list of IDs at a given location with accuracy down to less than 2 feet, take that UNIQUE list of ids and put it in a bucket called "Drumpf supporters", tracking those ids wherever they go and use that information for nefarious purposes. Encrypted hand-held radios avoids this problem completely.
Furthermore, you clearly did not read what I wrote when I said to TRAVEL IN GROUPS. Antifa cowards attack people who are either by themselves or in tiny groups they can easily overwhelm. You cellphone is NOT going to protect you from this gang - they are wearing disguises and will take advantage of the large gathering to commit crimes because they KNOW the police will be overwhelmed and unable to respond to everything. The dumbest possible thing you could do is travel alone and rely on a D.C. cop to come running to your rescue especially when they're going to be spending 100% of their time doing crowd control/riot prevention.
Finally, I'm not suggesting that antifa will use these methods, though they likely will try - I'm saying the police will be tracking you by these methods and knowing D.C. police they are more likely to throw you in jail for defending yourself then they are Antifa for attacking you. Don't just assume you're going to be OK because you "back the blue". Police in D.C. are very politically-motivated, whether those motivations are their own or supplied by their antifa-friendly mayor. So what's more likely to happen? #2. #2 will be you being attacked by antifa and then the D.C. Police using your own cell data to incriminate you because you were dumb enough to provide that information freely. They will come after you, they will not punish Antifa, and you're giving them all the information they need to do it.
Do not be a fool. D.C. is hostile territory. The sooner you understand this, the sooner everyone here understands this, the better.
